..JACKSON is the best dog and he REALLY needs a home of his own! to read and see the videos behind the scenes of these "breeders" from out of state. Everyone who thinks they are buying from a "breeder" out of state should be informed of these practices...........I..... I ADOPT ONLY TO THE MOST LOVING AND RESPONSIBLE HOMES WITH THE FINANCIAL ABILITY TO CARE FOR THESE DOGS THE REST OF THEIR LIFE. .......Yes, I am VERY fussy but I am the ONLY advocate for these defenseless animals that society has chosen to forget or kill at the pound.....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................CONGRATULATIONS to STELLA, who was adopted by Toni and family, and Stella's only surviving puppy PAIGE, who was adopted bu Page and family!...........CONGRATULATIONS to REBEL, who was adopted by Spence!............CONGRATULATIONS to puppy LEROY, who was adopted by Cliff and family! and to his brother puppy LARRY, who was adopted by Kelly and family!........CONGRATULATIONS to puppy NED who was adopted by Anne and Jim!..........CONGRATULATIONS to the 6 out of 7 puppies from the A litter who were adopted-ANNIE and ANDY went together to Janet and Martin, and ACE to Jared, and ANN to Sarah and Tim, and ALFRED to Steve and Pam, and ALLEN to Cathy and family! News
SEPT12 UPDATE-well it has been a very difficult and trying past 2 weeks for Pippi-first her surgeon added "new hardware" to her ex fix to keep her leg more stable-which I feel resulted in her next week of terrible pain, crying and not using her leg at all-so at her next weekly appt with him we discussed this and he did loosen it-and immediately she was feeling better and back to using her leg again-previously she was dead lame ,3 legged lame...horrible to see her like that...then her latest culture and sensitivity came back-not good news-she has 2 other organisms which are fairly resistant to most antibiotics-e. coli and psuedemonas...the antibiotic he chose for her required an injection 3x a day, 8 ml at a time, which is a good sized volume...and I almost fell over when he told me the price for the 10 day course of treatment-nearly $2,ooo TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!!! of course if I didn't treat her ,she could develop a massive bone infection which could travel thru her body and THAT could kill her-and after making it thru the surgery that would be a nightmare...of course he was also concerned that if her wound did not granulate in some more and cover the bone, we were looking at a bone graft too........I bought 2 bottles of the unbeleivably expensive injectable antibiotic and wondered how on earth to pay for this now? I got home, realized this was out of the question as we still needed money to pay for her surgery to remove all the pins and hardware, more xrays, and more bloodwork, lab work and possible meds. and whatever else she would need yet.........it was Labor Day weekend and I went to my vet here who has been doing some of Pippi's bandage changes, and even tho it was Sunday of the holiday weekend, Dr. Amy was fantastic to work with me-reviewing the other antibiotics I had found, and we settled on another one-this required injections 4x a day, but a lesser volume, and a significant price break-only $800 total......so that is what we started.... Pippi has made dramatic improvement in the use of her leg-she is full weight bearing and easily squats to go potty, and she no longer needs her sling-thank God for my aching back-and she has returned to her alert barking self-hooray-she is still on her pain meds, but less of them, and seems to be much more comfortable overall.....I still feel terrible coming at her with a needle 4x a day, but she is a wonderful patient.......pls continue prayers that she is healing with no more complications-this has been so stressful for me, I have lost so much sleep worrying over her.....and I am hoping that Pippi has finally turned the corner to getting better!!!!.................as for the other doggies, we have ben busy taking them for their long walks in the wooods, which they love...and puppies are playing with the other big dogs, and we are still working with Jackson on his manners-and boy is he a different dog now! What a remarkable change in him for the better! He is such a good dog!.............AUGUST 27 update-Hooray to Dave and April, good friends and volunteers and wonderful friends to us! who coordinated a "dog food run" to meet our rescue friend JOHN, and to SAL, who is always there to help us! thanks Sal for driving the dog food to meet us..and thanks to ALEXA, my first child volunteer, for coming to stay with us last week to help out-the dogs loved to see her! as did we.....last week was so busy....Rudybear, our Perm Rescue, has a bladder infection AND Lyme! so he and I are BOTH on Doxy for a while and hope we both get better soon! being so achy is no fun! ......our pup Rianna, who is still looking for a home, also has a urinary tract infection-she too is on antibiotics...........as for PIPPI, every other day we are on the road back and forth to the vets, constant bandage changes and check ups....sad to say she has been in a LOT of pain lately and not using her leg as well as she did. the first 2 weeks............TMW she goes back to the surgeon and we will see...she has been to see her surgeon every week now............last week she had additional "hardware" put on her leg to help stabilize it...........both Pippi and I are exhausted-she from trying to get around 3 legged and of course I worry IF she tears a cruciate ligament in her one good leg she will not be able to move at all!!! I am exhausted from slinging all 82 lbs of her, and fighting the Lyme disease, and of course, all the work!...............but most of all, tired from the WORRY about her.......AUGUST 18 Update-things are still very stressful and hectic here managing all the chores and "slinging" Pippi to go in and out-esp when she doesn't go potty when taken out! She has good days where she hops along and uses the leg and not so good days when she is 3 legged lame..she has to have bandage changes EVERY OTHER DAY so we have been back and forth to the vet....she has a small abrasion now on the top of the paw where the fiberglass splint rubs, and now a red sore area where her toenail has dug into the toe next to it. But she is still very bright eyed and wagging her tail! She has a great spirit!!! PLS continue all thoughts, prayers, cards and emails for her recovery-they are VERY much appreciated-and really helps me emotionally to deal with this......she has a LONG way to go-at least 8 more weeks in the external fixator (metal type contraption stabilizing the bones and leg ) if no complications......this month has flown by, just like it did in April when our dog Adddie was so scik....August 17-just found out I have Lyme disease! thank God-because it gives me the reason for all my aches and pains and problems I have had the past 3-4 months since my tick bite which I thought I pulled off in time-guess not. If you have ever had Lyme you know what it is like....... AUGUST news-We had a major altercation here, the worst ever, b/w our dogs, Pippi and Addie. The fight was the most severe I have seen in my 25 plus years with Rottweilers. Pippi suffered a severely injured hind leg with BOTH tibia and fibula bones being broken and shattered. She required a 3 plus -hour orthopedic surgery and will be in a "cast "for the next 8 plus weeks. We pray she does not develop complications or infections and she heals to full uuse of her leg. Thankfully, chest and leg Xrays and abdominal ultrasound revealed no signs of cancer as is so common with our breed. Pls say many prayers for her recovery.!!!......................................................JULY News-Summer has been very difficult here because of all the bad weather-rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and of course, the fireworks! We have 4 very thunderstorm -phobic dogs who require medication to keep them calm. Otherwise, they are frantic-pacing, whining, panting, digging and scratching at doors to go in then out, tearing closets apart trying to get in and hide, whining, and so restless it is unbearable for dog or human. .... Anyone who has a thunderstorm phobic dog understands very well what we are talking about, and the need to constantly check weather for the latests storm news......... July's high point was the first annual fundraiser party we held in honor of the rescue, to raise $$ for the dogs, and to help celebrate my "milestone" birthday in July....we had a wondeful band "Music By Rewind", plenty of food and drink, and a Celebrity Guest Appearance by my good friend "Bill Clinton" himself!! "Bill" brought along a "Secret Service Agent" who was also in demand for pictures....and yes, "Bill" adopted one of my dogs 2 years ago!!!.......Unfortunately, the LOW of July was the worst-we had to say goodbye to our darling Angel pup-many of you knew her as we had ordered a custom made special wheelchair to help her get around-she suffered from an incurable progressive neuro disease which is fatal by age 2. We know she was happy here with us but we miss her terribly. Pls say a prayer for her at the Rainbow Bridge until we meet again............Our volunteers Amanda and Julie get thanks for helping so much with her care too.................Our adorable dog Jackson finished his Heartworm Treatment, and is still loooking for his forever home......................JUNE NEWS-Our Permanent rescue, Baby Butter, came in one day with a laceration in her side.... how she got it while outdoors in her pen we will never know. We searched and searched everywhere. Luckily it was an easy enough straightforward surgery, and she healed perfectly from it. The weather has been so hot and humid and rainy it is hard for the dogs to be outside much. They prefer to be inside in the central air, as do we!! We try to get them out for their daily walks in the early evenings, but then we have to worry about West Nile and Encephalitis diseases!!! and the never ending ticks in the State Forest... ...........................MAY NEWS- A typical month with visitors every sat and sun! hard to get to church on sundays but we do try....b/w the people coming and going and new dogs in and out, it was very hectic. We also had a visit from our Kali-Mandy whom we adopted out 4 yrs ago-she comes to stay with us quite frequently and loves it here, and we love seeing her! ............................................APRIL NEWS-April was a HORRENDOUS month for us, in terms of constant worrrying and thousands of vet bills-our dog Addie, the beautiful one with the long tail, became quite ill. She was hospitalized and treated for pancreatitis for a week, then relapsed, went to another hospital for more work ups, then finally was admitted for emergency surgery for a foreign body and perforated intestines, and then had to go back to Ocean State for Intensive Care nursing over the weekend! It was a long 17 days of care for her...but we are pleased to say she has made a complete and healthy recovery!! Addie is aprox 9 yrs old... April was a month of worry and not much sleep either. .....................MARCH a month of MADNESS-We were kept busy with Henry, our older dog we rescued from the Hartford Pound, with his Heatworm Treatments, and lining up his foster home with Cathy. Henry fell in love with Cathy's dog and follows him everywhere, and he now adores Cathy as well. Despite some
"old dog" problems with stiffness and soreness, he has been doing well. I fear he has cancer as he was never neutered, yet time will tell. We had a lovely visit from our "child" volunteer, Alexa, who brought us a surprise, an adorable Dachshund whom she rescued from a very neglectful home! When he got here, he couldn't walk properly, and drug himself around on his hind legs. Yet he was very happy. We immediately found Dachshund rescue for him in NJ, where he received proper vet treatment. .....and yes he was balck and tan! ...................Our Permanent Rescue dog COCO injured her left eye-she came in with it swollen and draining. A prompt visit to the vet for some eye meds and indoor rest for her!!. Those of you who know her have seen her playing with her large plastic boomer ball hours on end-we think she kicked up a clod of dirt or mud and scratched her eye. She was SO good to put eye meds in! We just love her! Our goodfriend and volunteer Cindy drove down from MASS and we spent a wonderful day having lunch...and she brought us much needed linens and bones! ..........However, saddest news of all was that Roger's stepmother had beeen admitted tothe hospital with end stage cancer. March was a month of worry about her day to day. Sadly she passed to cancer on March 29, 2009. Rest in Peace Dot and know how much you were loved...................................................................Check out a new website devoted to dog lovers ........................ www.channeldog.com...............................

She has over 25 years working and training Rotts and numerous titles and certifications attesting to her unwavering committement to this magnificent breed. Animal Blessing
God's creatures, large and small, enrich our lives and our world.
God has blessed people the world over with a diversity of animals. Whether they are in the wild, on farms, or in our homes, we accept and cherish animals as God intended them to be: our helpers. Modern equipment has replaced the work previously done by some animals; however, their beauty, resourcefulness, and companionship continue to enhance our lives.
Whether we work with, care for, or are observers of animals and their activities, we give thanks that God created such remarkable creatures. As our companions or therapy pets, as creatures that help maintain a vital balance in nature, animals enrich our lives and our world.
"Then the Lord God said, 'It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper as his partner.' So out of the ground the Lord God formed every animal of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them."--Genesis 2:18-19
