Our Pet List

NEWS

NEWS, NEWS, NEWS, If any of you get a chance to read the book "Disposable Dogs" By Steve Swanbeck, CHECK OUT PAGE 66, Yes that is us and we are sooooo proud. Since we have gotten our copy I have shown it to almost everyone I have seen, I have been accused of showing it as much as the Pic of our Granddaughter, ha ha.
We are busy as ever. Thank you to all of you who adopted a baby from us the past year and we hope we can place even more this year. I want you all to know that you WILL NOT find sad stories here of what some of these dogs have been thru or stories of other horrid things that we know have happened. WHY?? Because, WE CAN NOT dweal on the bad, we must keep our eyes on the present. Without that and humor, we could not do this day after day.

Besides, I do not want anyone to adopt one of our babies because they feel sorry for them, I want you to adopt because, when you see or meet them that bond occurs that make you "lifelong friends".

Also please keep in mind we do have real jobs ( Animal shelter health insurance stinks ha ha) so if you call and we don't get right back , we will asap. We will try very hard to return calls and be home when it is easy for everyone to come, but you may have to work with us alittle. Thank you for your understanding.

A little side note here. I am sorry, but we can not accept cats. It seems cats will NOT stay in a fenced yard. ha. The truth is we have no housing for cats, and our neighbors are very understanding, but I am afraid that if we had several cats running all over the place they would not be so much. Yes, we do have a cat of our own, but that is one, not several. Since we have a doggie door, he can go out when he wants. He is a lazy, neutered Tom cat, who's greatest distance is to the shop for a mouse. We wish we could help everyone, but I have to keep the animals protected and keep the peace in the neighborhood. Thank you for your understanding.

We do take and have the farm animals. We have alittle room and it is a way we can help alittle.

WHO ARE WE

Bill and I have 3 children; Sarah, Jessica, and Benjamin. Ben takes an active part in helping with the dogs. Sarah and Jessie did, but life has taken them on to other things ..............

The kids can probably get the animals to do more in a quicker amount of time than Bill and I can. Along with the kids, our other residents are Pote(one mental cat), our Chihuahua, Casey ( who our Shelter is named after), Lilly ( an really spoiled Alexander Parrot) and Sherman (Ben's Bloodhound), some Chickens, and a Turkey, some goats, and whatever other critters we have brought home. Yes, we live in a zoo.. Bill and I would like to think we are the zoo keepers, but the kids, and Casey run the show, Ha Ha. So it seems even more like a zoo.

Our Shelter is run from our home, in a little town by the name Phillipsburg. Right off I-44. We are located 45 miles East of Springfield or 40 Miles West of Rolla Missouri.

Things have changed alittle and we have slowed down alot, Health, money, time and several other things have happened to cause this. It still amazes us everytime we look at our photo album of all our rescues, exactly how many have passed thru here..

With the kids and 2 full time jobs, (Rescue just does not pay well and the health insurance stinks, Ha Ha) We are usually running 20 different way. If you can leave a message we will call back. We try very hard to make plans in advance and to stay close to home on weekends. We work with people all the time on hours to come and are not hard to get along with there. We try to remember that everyone else is as busy as we are.

We are Reconized and Licensed in the state of Missouri as a "Non for Profit Corp", we are licensed by Missouri Dept. of Ag. as "Casey's Habit Shelter", which means we have to pass yearly inspections..

ADOPTING A FRIEND

First our fees are based on our investment on each animal. The cost and whatever medical it has to have once it gets here.
We do not have a long application process. We do however what to meet with you, ( we DO NOT ship) We would like to know about your family and your home. This is more to make sure you are getting the pet that would fit you and what you are looking for best. All dogs have a forever home here, and they are always our main concern.

We do follow-ups on each dog. We will call and check from time to time and see that all is going well. We ask that you be honest, we may be able to help if there is a problem.

· We DO NOT reject anyone because of race, job, where they live, marriage status or income. · We offer a lifetime home on ALL our Animals and as I said above we do lots of follow-ups and try to stay in touch with all our new friends... · I know there are rescues out there reading this that are having fits.... PLEASE just because we do things alittle different, doesn’t mean we don’t work just as hard at finding good quality homes. . We also have several older, mixed, and special needs animals so if you can open your home to one of these please call and see what we have. They are all loving friends who just want a home to call their own.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO FILL OUT AN APPLICATION YOU MAY DO SO BY HITTING THE RESPONDER LINK BELOW. HIT SUBMIT AFTER YOU HAVE FINISHED AND THEN YOU WILL HAVE TO HIT YOU BACK BUTTON. br>

COME VISIT

We are located at Phillipsburg, Mo. About 40 miles East of Springfield, Mo. Right off I-44. We would love to meet you and show off some of our babies to you. For your own good, PLEASE WEAR CLOTHES YOU DON'T MIND GETTING DIRTY, On the weekends the animals have 2 1/2 acres to run and play on. There is ALWAYS one in the bunch who has found some dirt and told the others... They also have several wading pools filled with water. So we always have one comic who lays in the pool and then alittle dirt.. We know it would be much easier if the animals were all in their runs or pens when someone comes, but they need exercise and they need to play..They need to learn to be puppies and dogs, be social, and playful. And we are here for them. Their needs are very important to us. So PLEASE understand that part...

THANK YOU'S AND GREAT LINKS

So many people to thank, If I list names I know I will forget someone, but we would like to thank all who have helped during our recent illnesses and all who have just come to play, for the contributions of food and blankets, cleaning supplies, towels and of course cash. But ESP those who help keep our spirits up and remember us in our prayers.

A special thanks

to Maggie and Duffy in Springfield, ILL., Who does her best to keep us laughing, those who have opened their homes and hearts up to one of our babies and so many more... May God Bless and keep all who help.

Theses are some great links of businesses that have went that extra mile for us lately or are just great sites to visit. This site has some great ideas....
