THE PRETTY LITTLE KITTENS YOU ADOPT ARE THE PICTURE OF HEALTH NOW, BUT THEY DIDN'T ALL START OUT THAT WAY! Please remember, fellow cat lovers, that these babies are in need of medical care when they arrive on our doorstep. Paying for their care requires your donations, made either directly to our veterinarian's practice in our name (contact Harlingen Veterinary Clinic at 908-359-2000) or directly to Carols Cats. WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED OF KITTEN FOOD, WET & DRY, as well as clumping litter, and HUMAN BABY food (all meat 2nd stage formula). You can find our donation box at PET VALU in Nelson's Corner Shopping Center (Rts 206 and 514, Hillsborough). Trap, Neuter, and Release IS happening even NOW! Feral and stray cats are out there breeding. It is our mission to STOP the overpopulation of unwanted cats. Thank you to those Carols Cats Volunteers who, through their continued support, donate their time, efforts, and talents to make OUR LITTLE ORGANIZATION a BIG success!! Couldn't do it without you ladies and gents!

BREAKING MEWS!!!

Gary and his wife M.G. hold a special place in our hearts!
Every year they include CC in "Resolution Run" to help us raise funds for our kitties in need. If you participated in Resolution Run this year, your efforts helped to support Project Graduation, Carols Cats, and other local animal rescue groups. Many many thanks to Gary and his wife MG (owners of Hillsborough Massage Therapy) for continuing to sponsor the event.

SPONSOR A FERAL CAT BY MAKING A TAX-DEDUCTIBLE DONATION
Currently Carols Cats is working on a colony in an undisclosed location. You can help a feral friend by making a direct donation for one of these cats. A $50 donation will spay and vaccinate a cat. One hundred dollars will alter a feral cat and feed her for a year. For further details contact us at carolscats@patmedia.net or phone 908-874-4660. Remember, you don't have to wait for an adoption day to meet our foster kitties! Arrangements can also be made to visit kitties available for adoption in their foster homes. Call Carols Cats at (908) 874-4660 for more information.

FERAL FACTS

What is a Feral Cat? Feral means "gone wild." Feral cats can be the offspring of stray or abandoned domestic cats who have reverted to a wild state. Carols Cats is continuing to address the problem of feral cats by implementing trap/neuter/return (TNR) programs throughout New Jersey communities. Mitegating the publics fear and concerns regarding rabies, (including the medical community) can be alleviated by "the facts". Such as; According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there were thirty-eight laboratory-confirmed human rabies cases between 1990 and 2006, with at least seven known to have originated outside the U.S. None of these cases were acquired from a cat. TNR is considered the leading edge of humane feral cat treatment. Many organizations, including Alley Cat Allies (www.alleycat.org) and SpayUSA (www.spayusa.org), provide detailed information and resources in support of TNR.

ABOUT CAROLS CATS

Carols Cats is a Hillsborough, NJ-based organization dedicated to the rescue and adoption of feral and abandoned cats. Carols Cats has been rescuing and offering cats for adoption since 1995. After we rescue the cat it is tested for feline leukemia and FIV, spayed/neutered, and given a complete physical by a veterinarian, including all necessary inoculations (distemper and rabies, if age-appropriate). Cats are then brought home for lots of love and hands-on therapy prior to the adoption.

ADOPTING A FELINE FRIEND

Carols Cats carefully screens potential adopters to ensure that adoptees are getting a home for life. Screening includes a brief interview and a check of veterinary references. After the adoption is approved, and once the cat has had his/her initial veterinary visit, the cat will move to his/her new home. All adoptions include follow-up phone calls to make sure all is going smoothly, and advice is given if needed.

COME VISIT US!

Carols Cats holds Adoption Days at Pet Valu in Hillsborough several Saturdays each month as need dictates. The Pet Valu is located at: Nelson's Corner Shopping Center, 601 Route 206, Hillsborough, NJ 08502 (908) 281-9949 Arrangements can also be made to visit kitties available for adoption in their foster homes. Call Carols Cats at (908) 874-4660 for more information.

OTHER WAYS YOU CAN HELP

Donations of money or supplies are greatly appreciated and are used to feed and care for foster kittens and feral colonies. Potential safe homes (such as farms or outbuildings) for feral cats who need to be relocated (due to dangerous or hostile conditions at their current location) are desperately needed. Carols Cats is also seeking volunteers to help follow up with adopters and to provide foster homes for rescued kittens.
