Cabot Animal Services
Our Featured Pets...
All pets featured on this site have been impounded by the shelter for a variety of reasons. The most common reasons are being picked up for running at large, surrendered by their owners or they are dogs that have been dumped. Pets have a limited number of days before they are put to sleep, so if you see an animal you are interested in adopting, DON'T DELAY! If you wait, they may not be here.
News
We are raising money to help with the new shelter. Donations are always appreciated. We also accept donations of anything that will help out our dogs. Such things are:
- Purina Puppy Chow
- Collars (of all sizes)
- Leashes
- Blankets
- Newspaper
- Stainless Steel non-tip Feeding Bowls
GREAT NEWS!! The new shelter has been completed!!!!!! It's located at the entrance of the Allman-Bevis Sports Complex on S. First Street. Donations are still needed as the funding available was less than the total projected cost and some things are incomplete. The Grand Opening was July 27, 2006.
If you live within the city limits of Cabot, your dog is required to have a city dog license. These are available at City Hall. This is your dogs ticket home if he comes into the shelter, and it is the law!
Who We Are
We are run by the City of Cabot. We have limited room. We make every attempt to return a pet to it's owner, but after 5 days the dog is eligible for adoption. We hold dogs for 5 days and then they can be euthanized. We have a high turnover rate of dogs at our shelter. Dogs pictured on our list may or may not still be available. We are very rescue friendly and happy to work with reputable rescue groups that can provide references. Check back often and don't delay if you see a pet you like.
The shelter also hosts low cost spay-neuter clinics provided by Arkansans for Animals/Spay/Neuter Arkansas. Call the shelter for more information.
This website is maintained by a volunteer and not enodorsed by the City of Cabot or any of it's employees. The list manager accepts all responsibility for items posted here. Please note, dogs have not been temperment tested. Any descriptions about them are from limited contact with the animal while confined at the shelter and should not be construed as fact.
Adopting a friend
Adopting a dog is a life long commitment. When you adopt a dog from us, you will sign a spay/neuter contract and we will take the dog to a participating vet in the Cabot area to be altered. They are also required to be vaccinated. You are responsible for the vet expenses. Remember...all dogs and cats in Cabot need to be wearing a license, available at City Hall.
The millions of dogs who get put to sleep in shelters each year could be spared this injustice if people would become responsible pet owners and spay or neuter their animals. Over 1,000 get euthanized just here in Cabot.
