The BTRGH Rescue of the Month

Meet Maxine!

Meet the lovely Maxine! Maxine is our rescue of the month for July and she's very excited about being the first girl to get this honor. Go Maxine - girl power! Poor Maxine is blind and she suffered quite a lot of abuse and neglect before she came into rescue. She was scared and didn't have any confidence, but now that she has discovered the magic of unconditional love there's no holding her back! Maxine is still a quiet girl, but now she's not afraid to show just how much love she has to give. And according to her foster mom, she has a LOT of love to give!! Maxine has really started to come out of her shell. She LOVES to play with her toys, chew on her bones, and her favorite thing to do is sit on the couch with her foster mom and watch TV. She's still a little shy around new people and can get overwhelmed in new places, but her foster mom has learned how to reassure her and make her feel safe and comfortable.

If you're looking for a companion to share quiet evenings at home, look no further than Maxine. Maxine is looking for a loving family who will take good care of her and shower her with all the love and attention she deserves. If you're interested in adopting Maxine, click on her name to read her complete profile and learn how you can make her a part of your family.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

SIGN UP WITH iGive.com:

Once you sign up, ALL of your internet purchases made through the igive.com site will earn donations for BTRGH. To join, simply click on the link and follow the directions to begin supporting Boston Terrier Rescue of Houston: http://tinyurl.com/igive-BTRGH

SHOP AT RANDALLS AND KROGER:

If you shop at Randall's, please ask the courtesy booth to add charity number 10018 to your Randall's card, or you can tell the cashier to punch in charitiy number 10018 at the checkout. Randall's will donate 1% of all purchases to Boston Terrier Rescue of Houston. If you shop at Kroger, please email us for information on how the Kroger Neighbor to Neighbor program can benefit BTRGH: btr@houstonbostonrescue.org

Due to the large volume of rescues that we handle, we desperately need more caring and enthusiastic volunteers to donate their time and talent to saving these precious kiddoes. At any given time, we have between 18 and 35 rescues residing at the kennel, so we always need regular help in the following ways:

DONATE DOGGIE SUPPLIES:

We always need dog food, treats, harnesses, leashes, shampoo, and miscellaneous doggie supplies (or gift cards from Petco or Petsmart to purchase those items); donations of clean towels, blankets, pillows, sheets or other bedding.

DONATE CLEANING SUPPLIES:

We can always use laundry detergent, bleach, mops, brooms, paper towels, disinfectants, antiseptics, hand cleaners, spray deodorizers, or gift cards from any low-price store or dollar store.

KENNEL HELP:

We group-clean the kennels on Wednesday evenings between 5:30 and 7:00 p.m. and Sunday afternoons between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. We welcome donations of your time and talent to help us clean the cages and runs, bathe the dogs and help with the general upkeep of the kennels. Volunteers are always needed, and new faces are greatly appreciated. If you would like to join us, please email us for directions or more information at: btr@houstonbostonrescue.org

BE A VIRTUAL FOSTER PARENT:

For just $20 a month (less than 70 cents a day!), you can become a foster parent to one of our rescues. Your monthly donation of $20 will help with that particular rescue's medical expenses and care for as long as he/she is in rescue (average 2-4 months). Your name will be listed as the virtual foster parent for that pup! If you would like to sponsor one of our rescues, just click on the link below: http://tinyurl.com/sponsorBTRGH.

Real foster homes are also desperately needed!!!

We take in such a high volume of Boston Terriers in Houston each year that there is not enough adequate housing for each dog. Please consider opening your home and your heart to one of these precious kiddoes while they await their forever homes. Thank you! http://tinyurl.com/fosterBTRGH.

THANK YOU!

Thanks so much to angels Sharon and Bobbie for their continued support over the years. In addition to paying for many surgeries, they have supplied the kennel with a new computer, printer, washer and dryer and they are always there to help out whenever we have a special need. We love you both very much!

BIG thanks go out to our wonderful friends at Molly's Mutt House in the Heights for housing some of our adorable rescues! Thanks to Molly and volunteer Aimee for taking such great care of our kiddoes!!

Check out the Muttcam and catch our rescues in action over at Molly's Mutt House, Houston's Finest Doggie Daycare: http://www.mutthouse.com.

Thanks also to our friends at Pet Paradise for housing some of our rescues at their state-of-the-art facility located conveniently on JFK Boulevard near the Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. Be sure to check out their web site: http://www.petparadiseresort.com.

In Memory of . . .

Our web site is dedicated to the memory of all the rescues who never had a chance - to those who were too old, too sick, to those whose injuries were just too severe, and to all the innocent souls who only briefly knew kindness and love. All of you are in alive and well in our hearts and memories.

George Missy Jackson Amos Oscar Bacchus Sawyer Herman Bucky Scooter #3 Sammie Pedro Crawford Carson Paddy Mr. Tibbs Murray Gomez Sherwood Freeway Tiffani Waldo Felicity Mr. Skinny Brady Lisbeth Korbin Ebenezer (Ebbie) Colby Rowdy January Bob Gautreaux Sierra Claiborne Prudence Cecilia Sinclair

Please remember our little lost souls in your prayers, and in their memory please take extra special care of your pets. Many of these precious little angels never had the care they so deserved in this life. For those who passed away after adoption, thank you to everyone who gave them loving homes and proper vet care for their remaining time here on earth.
