The Current State of Looziana Basset Rescue, Inc. - Fall 2011

Looziana Basset Rescue currently has 22 dogs in rescue. We continue to need foster homes as well as donations to pay for vet care. We also need donations to pay for boarding because we never have enough foster homes.

Fostering a Basset in Need

Hurricane Katrina took many things when she ravaged this area, including more than half of our active foster homes. To continue accepting dogs in need, we need more foster homes. Looziana Basset Rescue pays for all vet expenses, all we ask is that foster homes provide food and love to these wonderful dogs. Please email QueenB534@aol.com if you are interested in fostering.

Adopting a Friend

When you've looked at all the great animals here and chosen one that you'd like to meet face-to-muzzle, contact us. We'll get an adoption application to you quick as a hungry basset. Then we'll do everything we can to get you and your chosen hound together for an introduction.

To ensure that you and the pet you select are ideal for each other, we'll give you some time after the introduction to think about it.

As of March 2012 our adoption fee is $300. This includes spay/neuter, all shots, fecal and worming, microchip, heartworm test and treatment, if necessary, and all other veterinary care that is needed. The average amount that we invest in each dog is around $900, so this is quite a bargain. Looziana Basset Rescue has an extensive adoption process as well as adoption agreement.

How to Help the Hounds

We realize that parting you from your hard-earned dollars is becoming more difficult every day. While we still like to receive monetary donations toward the veterinary care of bassets in Looziana Basset Rescue foster homes, we also have a few items available for sale. You can be sure that every penny beyond our cost for these items is used as efficiently as possible to take care of bassets needing medical attention.

Our t-shirt design is the perfect way to show your support for Looziana Basset Rescue while you're out and about. This is the same quality white t-shirt you might have seen on our volunteers at pet events throughout the area. The cost for each short sleeve shirt is $20. Books make great gifts, and Looziana Basset Rescue receives a percentage of the purchase price of each book.

The help these professionals so selflessly provide makes our hounds healthy and much easier to place in permanent homes.
