Important Information These are facts that hopefully will encourage individuals to SPAY OR NEUTER their pets and keep their vaccinations up-to-date:
Thanks to pet owners across the United States complying with animal vaccination requirements, immunization has helped control the spread of rabies and has kept the general human and pet population relatively rabies-free. One female cat = 420,000 kittens over 7 years. Also, 36-60% of unaltered pet cats stray within 3 years. In 6 years, one female dog and offspring can equal 67,000 puppies. Unaltered 'naturally breeding' cats are at greater risk of FeLV, FIV and other infections spread by biting and fighting. Neutering reduces fighting and eliminates mating, and reduces the risk of FeLV/FIV. Unaltered females have increased risk of cystic ovaries, pyometria, and mammary tumors and may die as result of kittening. An estimated 5 million cats and dogs are killed in shelters each year! That's one about every 6 seconds. PLEASE BE A RESPONSIBLE PET OWNER AND HAVE YOUR PETS SPAYED OR NEUTERED. Encourage friends and relatives to do the same. Taking in a pet is a lifetime commitment. Note : At this time, AURORAS is currently not able to accept any animals unless they will be cared for by a foster family. We do not have a shelter; instead, all our animals are kept in foster homes until they are adopted.

WHO WE ARE-AURORAS
AURORAS (Animals United Rescue Organization for Rehabilitation and Adoption Services) is a 501(c)(3), Non-Profit, No-Kill animal rescue organization. We are dedicated to the principle of rescuing stray, unwanted, abused, and lost animals (cats and dogs) for the purpose of rehabilitation and recycling through regular adoption efforts. In addition, AURORAS believes community education is necessary to inform the public of the importance of spaying and neutering pets. Spaying and neutering is essential in order to reduce the growing number of rescue animals each year. AURORAS is an all volunteer organization and has no paid employees. As the name of the organization suggests, we are committed to the Dawn of a New Beginning for All Animals. Please consider making a donation by sending a check to the address listed below, OR clicking on the PayPal button-- $40 pays to neuter a male or $55 pays to spay a female. You can also GIVE by clicking the iGive button (or link) and do some shopping for a great cause...
