GoodSearch: You Search...We Give!

ACAPL has been a 501(c)(3) member organization since 1956. We are committed to providing temporary housing for homeless dogs and cats, reducing pet overpopulation through spay/neuter programs, and finding safe homes for adoptable dogs and cats.
1001 Places to Pee
Before You Die

I am Benson, a five-year old Schnauzer who is a true "people person." I have written a book about my view of the world and answer reader's questions.

Books are available at ACAPL locations and events for $10.

During the first month of collections, the APL provided Country Neighbor Pet Food Bank with more than 900lbs of dry pet food!
Keep bringing in those donations! Our hope is that if we continue to make programs like this available, fewer animals will be surrendered to shelters in our area.

We can succeed with YOUR help!

We love rescuers!

We are always eager to work with rescue groups, and strive to make the process as easy and pleasant as possible! In an effort to balance our spay/neuter budget, there is a $15 fee for altered dogs going to approved rescues. Transport help is available. All of our animals come fully vetted (utd on vaccines, hw tested, and altered). If we haven't worked with your group before, please fill out this short rescue application and email it to Tina Hayes at addedtouch@roadrunner.com

We look forward to working with you!

Note: Although we welcome offers to help any of our animals, we do not usually need help placing puppies. With certain exceptions, puppies can only go to rescue if an equivalent number of older dogs are taken as well. The other alternative is to pay the adoption fee in full (listed on our home page) to pull a puppy.

The Ohio Pet License Plates are vehicle registration tags that raise funds for education, spay and neuter of pets for low-income families, and for dogs and cats adopted from qualifying agencies.

Share your love for pets!
Even if you have just renewed your license plates, you can still buy the plate for $25. Simply visit your deputy registrar's office, or call 1-800-589-TAGS. The more plates we sell, the more animals we can help.

Adoption fees will be waived for any dog or cat that has been at the shelter and available for adoption for 6 months or more (donations gratefully accepted).

Meet Your Match Mondays
Adoption fees will be waived for any dog or cat that is CURRENTLY AVAILABLE for adoption on Mondays ONLY (donations gratefully accepted). "Currently available" means that the dog or cat must be currently spayed/neutered and on the adoption floor ready to leave that day.

Normal adoption procedures apply for both programs - including vet references and possibly a home visit.

Please note: The law requires you to purchase a dog license ($10) at the time of adoption from the APL if you are an Ashtabula resident. You WILL be charged for the county dog tag during any and all adoption drives if you are a resident of Ashtabula county.
