Adopting a Friend: ARV's adoption
days are a critical part to helping our furry friends find loving homes. They
provide us a chance to screen prospective adoptive parents while providing you
the ability to spend time with the animal. Since we are making decisions
that affect the animals life we carefully screen the potential home thru our
questionnaire along with accompanying all animals to their new homes to make
sure all is okay. Completing an adoption application does not guarantee
an adoption.
We need HELP - please!! ARV
is solely foster-based - the number of dogs and cats we can save is directly
related to the number of foster homes we have. Are you are loving,
caring and responsible? Love cats and/or dogs? We'd like to ask you to open
your home and help us foster a cat or dog from our local shelter so that they
are not euthanized. If you can foster either a cat or a dog, email us at staff@arvsimi.org
What does it mean to be a volunteer
foster family? You will receive unconditional love from your foster. You
will feel happy knowing you helped to save your foster's life... the
gratification is priceless! Responsibilities of a foster family are as
easy as A-B-C: a) give unconditional love, b) feed, give shelter and
exercise, c) try and teach your foster good from bad behavior, d) bath and
brush when necessary, e) provide a safe fenced yard for dogs, f) provide a
safe inside home only for cats and g) drop off at adoptions on Saturdays at
11:30am and pick up at 4pm if not adopted.
What We Have Accomplished:
Animal Rescue Volunteers was instrumental in the adoption and referral
adoptions of over 3,900 animals from 1994 thru today. We have spent over
$100,000 in veterinary care for rescued pets with broken jaws, hip and leg
fractures, upper respiratory, cancer, mange, and even helped our poster dog
Hannah get a pacemaker. ARV has paid thousands of dollars in fees to animal
control agencies and shelters to save unwanted pets before they were
destroyed.
Volunteering and Donations: ARV is a
non-profit organization registered with the IRS as such. Our volunteers are
people just like you - who have a love for animals, and would like to donate
their time or services to help the helpless. Foster families are always needed
if you are interested please email for more details. We are also always
in need of financial help, since most of our money comes from our adoptions
donations . We always seem short on funds for medical needs - 100% of all
donations go directly to the support and care of the companions temporarily
entrusted in our care. So if you can see it in our heart to make a donation,
please remember every dollar helps. Our future plan is to have a facility to
enable us to rescue and home more cats and dogs in a home like environment,
with a yard. Just give us a call at 805 579-8047.
