Our Petfinder Pet List

Welcome to the Animal Lovers League!

Are you looking for a pet but hesitate to visit a shelter?

Afraid it will be a grim and sad place?

Not so at the Animal Lovers Shelter!!!

Please be sure to visit us first in your quest for a pet to share your love and home.  Our shelter is a very special place, filled with cozy amenities for the homeless pets we shelter.  Our dogs have beds, toys and heat under the floors.  Our cats have baskets, beds and “hidey spots” and their own special toys.  Outdoor play areas help keep our residents exercised and relaxed.  Volunteers and trainers do their best to help “rowdy rascals” become adoptable “super pets” through positive reinforcement with clicker training.

All our animals are vet checked, de-wormed, vaccinated and of course spayed or neutered before adoption.  We work very hard to provide healthy pets who have been pre-evaluated so we can partner you with your ideal match.

Click on the Our Animals link above and follow the links to step right into our virtual kennel and cattery, or hop in the car and see our furry friends in person!

Please scroll down for hours and directions.

Help us “share the care."  Cast your vote for quality animal sheltering by donating quilts, food, money or volunteering your own time. Click on the Get Involved link above for more details.

Who We Are

As the only privatized municipal shelter in Nassau County and a not-for-profit organization, we need your support to provide the quality care we give to our animals, and to fix the “broken” and sick homeless pets who need help so very much.  We are dedicated to providing homes for all adoptable pets and improving the lives of all sheltered animals through sharing and education.  Because we are a 501(c)(3) qualified charitable organization, any donation you make to us is tax deductible.

When to Visit Us

Our shelter is open for adoptions from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Every Day!

Where We Are (and How To Get There!)

We are located at 40 Shore Road, Glen Cove, New York, on the beautiful north shore of Nassau County, Long Island.

Directions to Our Shelter:

Take the Long Island Expressway (I-495) to exit 39, Glen Cove Road. Turn left onto Glen Cove Road if you are coming from the West, turn right onto Glen Cove Road if you are coming from the East.  You will come to a fork in the road with a sign for Sea Cliff on the right, stay to your left to remain on Glen Cove Road until it ends at the Glen Cove Firehouse!  At the firehouse turn left onto Brewster Street.  At the second light turn right on Shore Road.  We are ¼ block down on right, alongside a baseball field and share the same driveway.  We are set back from the road in a 1-story cream-colored building (pictured above!) and there is free parking reserved for shelter visitors (so you can visit even if there's a ball game in progress!).
