Happy wasn't supposed to make it out of animal control alive, now she needs your help!

Despite being injured, Happy is a very lucky girl who wasn't supposed to make it out of animal control alive. Happy was picked up in January and taken straight to a vets office to be checked. The vet (without x-ray) determined that she had a broken femur and that she should be euthanized. Somehow, when she was taken back to the shelter, her paperwork got into the file without being checked. As far as the kennel staff knew, she just had a limp and did not exhibit that she was in pain. Instead, she acted happy and glad to see anyone who approached her kennel. When she was taken out of her kennel for photos, they noticed that there was more than just a limp to her back leg. The shelter pulled the paper work and was upset to see that she should have been put down in January. The volunteers asked for time to find a rescue for Happy and were given a week. Happy had a lot of Angels working for her --- The one who misplaced her paperwork, the one who minimized her pain, the one who only let the shelter workers notice a limp, the one who got the volunteer to notice her and want her to take her photo, the one who made the photos come out so great, the one who convinced the shelter to give us time to find rescue for her, the one who convinced AAR to rescue her, and the one who convinced her foster home to take her.

When AAR rescued Happy the break in her leg had healed on it's own, but Happy was still having trouble getting around. X-rays showed that she needs hip surgery. Happy's medical care has already been very expensive and her surgery will be another $500-$800. We are desperately in need of donations to cover her surgery, boarding, and medical care.

FOSTER HOMES NEEDED TO GET DOGS & CATS OUT OF BOARDING!!

PLEASE HELP THESE DOGS & CATS FIND A LOVING FOSTER HOME!

These dogs are all stuck in boarding and need foster homes

We need foster homes so we can rescue more dogs & cats. We are overwhelmed by the amount of dogs & cats we currently have in boarding. Foster homes help us by taking care of the dogs & cats and helping us learn more about them. AAR pays for all the vet work and only asks that you supply the food and plenty of TLC. Crates or litter boxes can be provided if needed. Fostering is a great way to have a dog or cat without the finacial responsibility and also helps homeless pets. So if you have room for a dog or cat, even just temporarily, we need your help!!!!

If you can't foster, please consider donating to help pay for boarding bills. Every little bit helps. Discounted boarding still costs $6-15 a day, so a small donation can still help board a dog or cat for a day or two!

Always Kitten Season, Foster homes always needed!

Kitten season is a year round PROBLEM unless females are spayed & males are neutered. Little kittens (if they survive the winter elements, which most don't) and pregnant, stray & feral moms are everywhere. We only have one or two foster homes available to house these unfortunate creatures & still have cats left over from last year!! These sweet babies just want a home to call their own! We also need help taming semi-feral kittens (kittens that are not socialized) so they may have an opportunity to be adopted. If you want to foster a cat or kitten(s), PLEASE contact us!! We are also in desperate need of volunteers to help clean, feed, water & love on our little/big ones until they find their forever homes:) NEED A BARN/MOUSER CAT(S) OR KNOW SOMEONE THAT DOES? - we have several feral & semi-feral (wild & unadoptable) cats that need an outdoor home where they can live out their lives so they don't have to be returned to a dumpster or another bad situation!. These healthly cats have been sterilized & vaccinated against rabies. All they need is daily food, water & protection from the elements. They don't ask for much & your shed, basement, barn or stable will be rodent free! Please call Ellen @ 404-377-9762 if you can help. Assistance will be provided during the relocation process. Thank you for considering these poor, unfornutate creatures. Their only crime was being born...

Who We Are

Animal Action Rescue is a small rescue group devoted to the rescue and adoption of abandoned, abused, and neglected animals. Our animals are in foster homes, vet's offices and a rescue shelter. Please call to make an appointment if you want to meet a particular animal via the animal's email contact or GTigger719@aol.com.

Adopting a friend

To adopt an animal, we have an application available via email or fax. A homecheck and adoption fee are required. Our adoption fee includes all shots, rabies vaccination, spay/neuter, and microchip.

Adoptions

We will be holding adoptions every Sunday at the Petsmart on Ponce from 12:30-4:30.

Not all dogs (& no cats/kittens) come to adoptions, so if you are interested in a particular dog, please e-mail us so we can make sure they get there. For cats/kittens, please call Ellen @ 404-377-9762 or Laura @ 404-373-3447 to set up an appointment to meet the one(s) you are interested in adopting, unless otherwise stated.
