FOSTER HOMES FOR CATS AND DOGS NEEDED!!
Our Featured Pets --
CORY
Cory was admitted as a stray, abandoned by his owner who moved and left him behind. Thanks to the dedication of our volunteers, he was finally, after much time to learn to trust, he was caught and came to Animal Rescue to begin again. Because of his past, he has separation anxiety and would do best in a home where people are home a great amount of the time. Cory does well with children and other dogs, and greets humans very politely. He has lots of energy, loves to explore and would do best in a fenced yard with supervision. If you have the time and devotion, he would be sure to re-pay you for your kindness in puppy love and kisses. Feel free to come and meet him and his friends here at the rescue.
LORAX
Hi, my name is Lorax and I'm a sweet, loving cat who loves to be petted. I was returned to the rescue because my owner could no longer care for me, but adjusting to my current living situation has been hard. Even though all the nice people working here try to pet me and love me, I can't help but be depressed, and sometimes I just sit in the corner and feel hurt that I have not found my forever home. I'm looking for that home -- a place where I would be loved and taken care of as an only cat. I'm a big cuddly guy -- I probably weigh close to 25 pounds -- and I have that much love to give. Could you be my new family? Come see me in the office at the rescue.
Our Pet Of The Month...
Candi
Hi, my name is Candi and I'm a sweet, 7-year-old Labrador Retriever. I get along with dogs, cats and mature children. I tend to be more trusting of women than men, though I can definitely learn to trust a man with some encouragement. I have these trust and some housetraining issues because I'm from a puppy mill. You can see the note below this to learn more about dogs that were rescued from these mills. I'm a wonderful girl looking for a family to love and trust for the rest of my life. Right now, I'm living in a foster home so if you're interested in meeting me, please call the rescue so we can make an arrangement.
A Note on Dogs Rescued from Puppy Mills: Some of our dogs are rescued from puppy mills. The puppy mill industry is known for over-breeding popular pure and mixed breed dogs that are sent to pet stores to be sold to the public. Many of the dogs living and breeding in these mills get very little human interaction, and for some, this attention is highly negative. Depending on the mill from which they came, some dogs will be more personable while others will run away from an approaching person, or bite if they are cornered and frightened. These dogs have spent most of their lives in small, contained spaces and will need patient, loving and understanding owners to teach them to trust humans. They will also need assistance in being housetrained and being approached by strangers. Many puppy mill dogs will do better in a low-key household with an individual or couple who will have a great deal of time to spend with them. Sometimes, these dogs bloom in the presence of an already-established family dog, who can teach them that interacting with humans is pleasing and rewarding. Having a puppy mill dog is a challenge that is well worth the reward, but please consider your commitment before adopting. Our rescue is happy to work with those who are interested.
Congratulations!!!
Congratulations to Tucker Jugs and his new family! Tucker came and left the rescue as a very active pup, and we will miss his happy disposition. Take care and best wishes!
Congratulations to Tucker Allen the dog and his new family! Tucker was with us for several months, and during that time he held the position as the friendly greeter. In fact, Tucker enjoyed following the tours around, as if he was showing the potential adopters his home! He's a wonderful dog who deserves an equally wonderful family. Best wishes, Tucker!
Congratulations to Roo the kitten and her new family! Roo lived in the office of the rescue for several weeks and during her time there she never failed to make us laugh every day. She's such a silly, happy kitten and we wish the best for her and her new family.
Congratulations to Spice and her new family! Spice came to us as a tiny kitten with soft white paws and a friendly personality. We knew it wouldn't be long before this wonderful kitten found a new home. Congratulations!
Congratulations to Suki the German Shepard and her new family! Suki came to us and was shortly adopted within the same month! Those who had gotten the chance to know her say she is a sweet, loyal dog. Congratulations to Suki and her family!
Congratulations to Turk and his new family! Turk the boxer mix was with us for a short time at the rescue, but we knew that with such a wonderful personality, Turk would be sure to find a home soon. Best Wishes!
Congratulations to Hoss for finding a new home with his new family! May he and his family all have many happy years together! While Hoss' stay at the rescue was brief, those who had the chance to work and play with him knew he would make a great companion. We're so happy for him and his family.
Congratulations and best wishes to Dingo (now Ringo) and his new family! Ringo the terrier mix came to the shelter in April and was fostered by what came to be his permanent family. Since living with his family, Ringo has learned all kinds of new tricks and is doing very well!
Congratulations to Roger the Mountain Cur on finding his new permant family. Roger came to the rescue in mid-June and his stay was a short one. We are so happy that Roger has found his forever home!

Who We Are
Animal Rescue, Inc. consists of two locations...a cattery in the Putty Hill area of Baltimore, Md. and a 22 acre farm located in Pa. at the Maryland border just off Rt. 83. Animal Rescue services the greater Baltimore, Md. and York, Pa. area. Animal Rescue is a "shelter for life" for stray and abandoned animals. Animal Rescue does not accept personally owned/unwanted pets...our residents are rescued strays. Pets that are used to having their own home do not do well in an institution or environment like ours. Even though we are a shelter, all of our residents are given the best possible care to allow them to live out their natural life. NO animal is put to death because of medical expenses or the inconvenience of care. One of the major objectives of Animal Rescue is to find loving, responsible homes for it's residents.
Animal rescue is a non-profit organization that is funded mostly by donations. Our staff and group of volunteers dedicate their time to caring for the residents at our shelter. Without the help of these animal loving people, we would not be able to help the amount of pets that we do. We are always in need of volunteers....even if it is just to take a resident dog on a nice walk! If you would like to help, please visit our website and fill out a volunteer application!!
