"George" was saved from a kill shelter where his owners had dumped him. He is a Bullnese, a so-called designer breed that is a mix of Bulldog & Pekingese. (You can learn more about the Bullnese breed @ www.bullnese.com ) George has cherry-eye AND dry eye in his right eye. Because he never received care for either condition he is mostly blind in that eye but it doesn't hinder him a bit. We are in need of donations for George to have eye surgery. Angel Acres is honored to be part of the newly formed "St. Louis Petlover Coalition!" The coalition was originally brought together by a team at the Nestle Purina PetCare Co. This groundbreaking initiative represents the 1st partnership of it's kind in the St. Louis area among rescue groups, shelters, veterinary organizations and City and County health departments. Who We Are

Angel Acres Animal Rescue is a certified 501(c)3 nonprofit organization located in the west county area of St. Louis, MO. We are dedicated to the rescue of homeless and unwanted animals and strive to place themin suitable, loving homes. We believe that pets are an important part of the family and should be treated with kindness, love and respect. We are a small, home-based operation and as such we are personally involved with every animal we have available. They are treated as members of our family until a "forever home" is found and we expect to stay in touch and build lasting friendships with all our adopters in the years to come.

PLEASE READ

Because of our personal committment to all the animals, we prefer to not adopt outside the St. Louis area unless under very special circumstances. Visitations are by appoinment only as we do use foster homes. A completed application must be approved prior to visitation (you can find the application at the top of the page). We do not adopt out puppies before 9 wks. of age and after having a 2nd set of shots as well as any other medical care needed. A spay/neuter contract or prepaid spay/neuter receipt is required for puppies too young to be altered. For this reason, we will not adopt puppies that are not already altered Out-of-State. All pets are vaccinated, heartworm tested, microchipped and dewormed (if needed) prior to adoption. Our adoption fees vary and depend on the age and breed of the pet.

Angel Acres is always in need of DONATIONS to help the animals we rescue. We not only feed and house everyone but many are in need of medical attention beyond the standard vaccinations and testing we do. We are federally tax exempt and all donations are fully tax deductible. We are happy to send acknowledgement cards for those wishing to make donations "in memory of/to honor." We greatly appreciate each and every donation!

ADOPTION FEES: Adoption fees vary and are mostly based on breed and age. We have recently increased our fees due to lack of donations and a raise in our veterinarian's prices. Our average adoption fee is $250.00 but can range from $50.00 for a senior dog to $400.00 for a purebred puppy of a desirable breed. We rely on the higher fees of puppies to help keep us running and offset the expenses of those who have required surgeries or more extensive medical procedures and those that are not as adoptable.

VISITATION: We are a private, in-home rescue that uses foster homes throughout the St. Louis area. Therefore, an approved application is required prior to arranging an appointment for visitation. Approved applicants will be notified and invited to visit the pet they are interested in. The selection process can take a fews days or a few weeks depending on the number of applicants and chosing the one(s) we feel is most suited for that particular pet. We do try to contact applicants that are not chosen, so they may move on to another pet, but it is not always possible to contact everyone.
