We work hard to find great homes for the Malamutes we take into foster care. Previous Malamute, or other northern breed experience and secure yards are our preferred adopters.
Our dogs are:
Note: You will notice that our dogs are marked "NO SMALL CHILDREN". This is our policy and does not directly relate to the individual dog's temperament or experience with children. We do not place Mals known to be aggressive towards humans of any age.
Our adoption process is:
1) E-mail us for an Adoption Application
2) Satisfactory veterinarian and personal references
3) Secure fenced yard
4) Home visit
5) Adoption Agreement and $200 Fee to help defray veterinary costs
6) Signed Adoption Agreement
Note: We do not adopt to homes with small children (less than 6 yrs. old) We consider homes with older children on a case-by-case basis.
What if I DO NOT live in the the CAROLINAS?
Many states have an AMAL (Alaskan Malamute Assistance League-our national umbrella organization) affiliate rescue.
To locate a rescue in or near your state visit: http://www.malamuterescue.org
Alaskan Malamute Rescue of North Carolina is an all-volunteer group dedicated to the welfare of purebred Alaskan Malamutes. We are recognized by the IRS as a 501c3 charitable organization. We are a donation supported organization formed in 1999.
We are not a shelter. We foster the dogs in private homes around the state of North Carolina. Arrangements to meet a particular dog are made after we have received and approved your adoption application. Our primary foster homes are in the Charlotte, Raleigh, and Winston-Salem areas.
