AFCHS is a non-sheltered Humane Society Organization modeled after the more progressive humane societies. We do not believe any home is better than no home, but instead, work to find the right home for each specific animal.
All of our pets are altered and have vaccinations. We also offer a free local veterinarian exam and discounted prices on dog training. You may receive coupons from our local business supporters. You will be asked to fill out an adoption questionnaire (click on Adoption questionnaire above) and sign a contract. WE DO NOT SHIP any of our animals. We do however have a fairly large delivery area. Please e-mail us concerning specific situations. We will either be delivering the new pet to your home or requiring certain information including pictures of your home/yard. For dog adoptions, we will be checking to make sure he or she has a secured fenced area. For cat adoptions, we will check to be sure your home is safe for an ‘inside only’ cat. If you rent, we will call your landlord to verify permission for pets and length of time you have been renting.
While we do not at this time have a shelter, we do have a cat sanctuary housing many cats & kittens available at 933 S. Cherokee Lane, Lodi CA. Most of our pets are in foster care homes. Cats can be visited at mobile pet adoptions or the Sanctuary. Appointments will need to be scheduled to meet our dogs. We are approximately 45 minutes south of Sacramento between Hwy 99 and I-5. Take the Hwy 12/Lodi exit. The nearest cross street is Kettleman Lane west of Hwy.99. We are next door to the Flower Cart and a 1/2 block north of J&D Auto.
