Pet of the Month

Our pet of the month introduces himself...
"Smokey"!

Hello Friends. My name is Smokey, and I am looking for a new home. I am told that I am a very pretty black and white young adult male Terrier/Corgie mix. I am a little dog at about 20 pounds. I have medium length soft hair, and when I have just been brushed, I love to show off my stuff. My last owner was very good to me, but I had to find a new family. I am looking for a full life in my next home. It is hard not to notice me because I want lots of attention. I am happy all the time, and I am full of life. If you want a good friend to share your life with, I'm your guy. My friends at the Humane Alliance love me very much and will take good care of me until I meet my new family. If you would like to see my animal friends at the Humane Alliance, please click on the line "Our Pet List" above, or call and ask about me at 615 907 7093.

News

It is the goal of the Humane Alliance to increase public involvement in finding positive solutions to the homeless companion animal problem in Rutherford County and beyond. We are working to strengthen the partnership with others in our community to develop anti-cruelty laws, regulations, and humane enforcement initiatives. We continue to work toward developing alternatives to handling homeless companion animals beyond euthanasia. WE DO NOT EUTHANIZE OUR ADOPTABLE ANIMALS. We promote spay and neuter as a way of decreasing unwanted animal births. Your donations are tax deductible. We are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.

Who We Are

The Humane Alliance of Rutherford County was founded on the belief that every companion animal should have the right to live out its natural life in a loving home. Acts of protective intervention by the Humane Alliance will give many companion animals a second chance at life in a loving new home. We believe that there is a unique and reciprocal bond between humans and animals. To foster this human to animal bond we accept the responsibility to assist people and homeless animals in achieving this goal. We assume this duty willingly and with pride. We are the voice for those who cannot speak, and we can and will act to protect them.

Adopting a Friend

We strive to place our animals in a home where they will receive love and care for the remainder of their life. We want to assist you in making a choice that works well for your family. For that reason, you will be asked to complete an Adoption Application that will be screened by our shelter administrator. After the application is approved, you will sign the adoption agreement and submit the appropriate fee. VISITATION IS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY because we operate with only volunteer staff. Adoption fees vary and include spay/neuter, vaccinations, grooming and animal maintenance expenses. We are dependent upon our adoption fees and public donations to support our work. Because our veterinary services are rendered by an independent veterinary clinic, we seek to recover the medical costs for the pet as a part of the adoption process. Animals who are too young for spay or neuter will require an adoption fee plus a refundable deposit for spay/neuter as part of the adoption. Ask about the adoption fee for the animal you are interested in adopting. These details are best discussed by telephone at 615-907-7093. You may click designated area below to print out our forms. Complete and fax them to 615-893-5362 or mail them to 975 Bridge Avenue, Murfreesboro, TN 37129.

Volunteering and Donations

The Humane Alliance depends on public donations, volunteer support and the adoption fees we receive to operate. We welcome your financial support. Cash donations, pet shampoo, multiuse copy paper, towels, laundry detergent, bleach and Pinesol brand detergent are always needed. We also occasionally need foster homes. Volunteer your time and help us save a pet. If you would like to volunteer to help, please ask about the opportunities available to assist us at 615 907 7093.
