REFERRALS
ACDink continues to refer individuals seeking cattlekids to adopt and individuals seeking homes for cattlekids; so please provide as much information (gender, spay/neuter, age, housetrained, cats/kids/men ok, etc) about your cattlekid to help with the referral process.
BREED EDUCATION and RESOURCES FOR ADDITIONAL
ASSISTANCE
Feel free to contact us with questions and concerns about the breed, possible resources for rehoming, and problem resolutions. (ACDink does not provide professional animal behavior counseling; however, we can share what we've learned from experience.)
EVENTS
There are no scheduled Australian Cattle Dog Breed Education and Adoption Clinics at this time.
We are always recruiting for more foster homes in New Mexico. Please contact us if you are able to provide a loving foster home for one of many cattlekids in desperate need.
ACDink's Mission
ACDink's mission is two-fold: ACDink rescues and rehabilitates cattlekids who come from situations similar to Dink's situation--one cattlekid at a time. ACDink also aims to enrich the lives of adopters by offering the opportunity to discover the intense love and devotion of a cattlekid whose needs are mutually compatible. ACDink's mission is to help unite homeless cattlekids in New Mexico with their forever homes!
Adoption Process
The screening process helps ensure a match for both the cattlekid and the person who adopts. Please be patient with us as we want everyone to be happy with their possible adoption choice. The process includes the following:

In Memory of Dink
ACDink was established in memory of a very special cattlekid, Dink. Dink found his new life while wandering the neighborhood in the foothills. He was a throw-away dog whose ribs stuck out and eyes reflected such sorrow and suffering. His last meal was cactus and who knows when his last decent meal was.
Dink encountered a couple browsing through various garage sales and helped himself to the back of their truck. Perhaps he thought the red cattlekid in the cab was cute or maybe the couple's demeanor appealed to him. Either way, Dink decided he was going home with them. The couple cooed over him in surprise and he cowered when they reached over to pet him. From that moment Dink stole their hearts.
With love and time Dink recovered from his past life. The nightmares that left him in such a grieving state diminished until they were no more. Over the next few years Dink became a healthy, happy, and loved cattlekid with two humans that doted upon him.
As suddenly as he came into their lives Dink had left. He crossed Rainbow Bridge on August 5, 2000. Bereft, one of those humans chose to keep Dink alive in her heart through her dedication to rescue other Dinks out there. Dink was her angel: He changed her life and the lives of countless other cattlekids forever.
