The AAC is looking for a special volunteer to long-term foster sweet Joy. After a week at the center, Joy is full of life and is ready to head to a home so she can adjust to life outside of the Center. If you are interested, please call us at 307-739-1881. Thanks! Please take a look at her picture under available animals. Also, the Horses at the AAC are in need of some food. If you have extra grass hay or alfalfa that you can donate please call the AAC at 739-1881.

Who We Are

The Animal Adoption Center is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, dedicated to increasing the number of animals adopted from shelters. Statistics report that only 20% of companion animals in the US have been adopted; the remaining 80% were bought from breeders or pet store/puppy mill operations. We are seeking to change these statistics. To do so, we have created a welcoming, quiet, homey environment in a downtown location, housing 8-12 dogs and 12 -14 cats at one time, awaiting their forever homes. For prospective adopters, this more low-key facility can be less overwhelming and less chaotic than a shelter environment. We rescue animals from shelters - both local and regional, often high-kill - temperament test them, spay/neuter them, and fully vaccinate them. The cats run amok in a free-roaming cat room, filled with toys, high places to climb, scratching posts, places to hide, and cozy baskets and napping places. The dogs only stay at the facility during our daytime hours of operation, in between walks about town and on the local trails, and go home every night to foster homes. We also offer a 2 week trial foster period; anyone interested in an animal is welcome to foster for up to 2 weeks to see how the animal settles into their life and family.

Adopting a friend

Anyone interested in adopting a pet from the Animal Adoption Center will need to fill out an application that you can find on our website at animaladoptioncenter.org. It is our mission to find permanent, safe, and loving homes for abandoned companion animals, and we believe it very important to therefore match the right animal with the right family. We reserve the right to refuse to adopt to unqualified persons. Adoption fees for cats are $80 and our dogs are $275. We DO adopt out of area. We recommend you check out our website, animaladoptioncenter.org, where you can also download adoption applications. For additional information, feel free to email us at adopt@onewest.net. Don't see what you would like at the Center?? We will be more than happy to help you find whatever you are looking for. Sign up on our "Want to Adopt" list and we can put you in touch with regional shelters and rescue groups who just may have the pet for you!!
