Who we are
ABOUT THE CHEYENNE ANIMAL SHELTER
Welcome to our new website. It's a pleasure to meet you at www.petfinder.org/shelters/WY15.html. We hope you like what you see and learn about us here. We have moved into a whole new facility. Our new facility is state of the art and 20,000 square feet in which to better serve the animals of our community as well as our customers. Located at 800 Southwest Drive in Cheyenne, it is visible from I-25 and I-80, making us one of the most visible animal welfare facilities in the United States.
What You Should Know Before Adopting a Pet
Having pets carries financial, physical and emotional responsiblity. Although some believe they require just food and water, much more is involved. Love, companionship and care promotes life long happiness.
Population Control
Stop and think about how many offsping and each generation an unspayed or neutered animal produces. The numbers are staggering.
Adopting Procedures
Stop by the shelter and speak to one of our staff members about the things you are looking for in a pet.
They will ask you questions about your home environment, family members and pets in the home to determine if a particular breed or adoptable animal at the Shelter might suit you.
You can take a pet into a holding area to spend some time with it or possibly bring it outdoors (usually dogs on a leash). Please listen carefully to our staff for tips and advice as well as recommendations while you are getting acquainted with some of the animals.
If you feel there is a match, you can take your new pet home as long as your provide proof of rabies on the pets you already have. Costs vary from $10-$400 depending on the type of pet, age of the animal and how long it has been at the shelter.
We also advise that you check with your landlord before adopting a pet, because although you are allowed to return a pet to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter, we do not refund the adoption fee. However, we will give you an adoption voucher for the price of the pet that is good for six months from the date of adoption.
Remember, because all of our pets are already spayed or neutered before they are put on the adoption floor, you can't get a nice pet any cheaper AND you are providing a home for a pet.
Call the Shelter if you have any specific questions. 307-632-6655.
Thank you for visiting us and we hope to see you in person someday.
