News

I am taking applications for a job opening. It will be 5 days a week doing cleaning and running the office. We are looking for a responsible, dependable person willing to work and take care of our animals. Please do not email, but come out to the shelter Sunday - Tuesday from noon - 6 pm and ask for Kate. We are currently looking for someone who would like to volunteer a few hours a month to be our maintanence man. We need help with repairs on fencing and dog kennels. We also are looking for someone that may be interested in making us a scrapbook of the humane society throughout the years. We always are in the need for donations including cat litter, cat blankets/beds, kitten food, paper towels, bleach, rabbit and guinea pig food and litter, etc. Yearly events include dog washes, DracuPaws, and Santa Paws. Keep watching for upcoming dates on event.

Who We Are

The Rock Springs Humane Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the placement of previously homeless animals in new, loving environments. We alter and vaccinate all animals prior to placement, and screen all applicants to assure a lifelong match between people and pets. We educate the community about the importance of spaying and neutering pets, proper pet care, and animal welfare. We receive no federal, state or local funding, and operate completely on donations. We place dogs, cats and exotic animals in loving, forever homes!

If you are in the area, and care to make a donation, we would greatly appreciate your help! The following items are always in short supply....bleach, paper towels, garbage bags, latex gloves, postage stamps, dog dishes, cat beds, and cat litter. A payment on our account at Desert View Animal Hospital (940 Elk Street, Rock Springs, Wyoming 82901) is a wonderful blessing. If you would like to volunteer at our shelter, help with public events, fundraising, public relations, etc., you will be giving the greatest gift of all...your time and love.

Adopting a friend

All applicants are screened to assure the best match between your lifestyle and the pet you wish to adopt. Your honesty during the application process will assure you adopt the best pet for you...and the animal receives the best home! We do not allow dogs to be kept on chains. We do not allow dogs or cats to be kept solely outdoors. A home visit will be done before an adoption on a dog is finalized. Our fees are $100 for dogs, $120 for puppes, $80 for cats and $100 for kittens. The adoption fee for exotic animals varies by species. This fee covers the cost of spaying/neutering your new pet, and providing vaccinations.

We welcome any inquiries from breed rescue organizations concerning adoption of our purebred animals. We have the utmost respect for all the dedicated and hardworking people giving their all for the breed they love, and will be glad to work with any breed rescue organization that believes in spaying/neutering.
