The shelter is frequently overcrowded with pets who desperately need your help. Please consider adopting one of our dogs, cats, puppies, or kittens. If you cannot adopt, please help by spreading the word. Also remember the importance of spaying/neutering to help control pet overpopulation. As our organization is not affiliated with the Putnam County Humane Society (they are a separate organization), we are constantly in need of donations (i.e. cash donations, dog/cat food, newspapers, blankets, kitty litter, bleach, lysol, etc.).
If you are looking for a special type or breed of animal, please call our shelter at 586-0249. 1 in every 4 dogs are purebred.
Who We Are
Putnam County Animal Relief Center, 1 Sabre Road, Winfield, WV 25213 (behind the Winfield Middle School)
Hours are:
Monday - Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Closed on Sunday's.
We, as well as the animals, are more than lucky, for because of those of you who donate your time, items and monetary donations, every animal has a chance. Whether they be young or old, come in cared for or unkempt, even the sick and pregnant, they are all the same... Lives that can be saved.
Everyone adopting animals through the Putnam County Animal Relief Center must fill out an adoption contract. The price for dogs is $40 and the price for cats is $35 which includes first shots, and sterilization( if you use one of our authorized vets.). If the animal has not already been sterilized, there is a separate deposit required of $50 which will be returned to you upon proof of the sterilization.
*As a reminder we are always in great need of donations and volunteers to help out at the shelter. Contact the shelter or email us for more information on ways you can help!
