The Humane Society of Raleigh County, Inc. is a non-profit organization which has been serving people and pets since 1979. Its mission is to prevent animal abuse and neglect. Located in Beckley, the county seat of Raleigh County, WV, the animal shelter staff provide adoption opportunities, public education. By agreement with the Raleigh County Commission and the City of Beckley, the Humane Society enforces state and local laws pertaining to animals but is not a government agency.
The animal shelter is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday excluding holidays from 11:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Adopting a friend
The adoption fee is $35.00 plus a $50.00 deposit toward spay/neuter for dogs and/or $40.00 for cats which can be used as payment toward the cost of this service at a participating veterinarianís office. There is a written contract which the adopting owner must sign which requires that any animal which has not already been altered shall be spayed or neutered by a deadline set by the shelter. It is the responsibility of the new owner to schedule and pay for the surgery and mandatory rabies vaccination. Failure to do so will result in the animal being returned to the shelter.

The animal shelter is located in Beckley at 325 Gray Flats Road, near the Beckley-Stratton Junior High and the new YMCA Soccer Complex. Follow state route 19 North from the East Beckley Exit of I-64 and turn on Bibb Avenue, or you may turn at the Raleigh County Civic Center/Armory and turn left at the intersection of Bibb Avenue and Gray Flats Road.
