Who We Are

The Humane Society of Morgan County is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. The kennel has only 17 runs. A renovated mobile home serves as cattery and office. We accept owner-relinquished, stray, unwanted and abandoned animals as space allows. We have no euthanasia technician on staff and strive to give each animal every chance to be adopted. We encourage and support several spay/neuter programs in the community.

We receive no government funding and rely entirely on donations from individuals and businesses, fund raising, and grant monies. Donations are always needed and greatly appreciated. They may be given for general operations or can be earmarked for spay/neuter projects, care of a particular animal, or shelter maintenance or improvements. Donations may also be made as memorials and honorariums (pet or human) or as birthday or holiday gifts. Special notes will be sent to acknowledge your gift.

Public hours are Thursday-Monday 12 noon - 5:00 pm Closed on Tuesday & Wednesday

Adopting a friend

Our goal is to place pets in their forever homes. If you are interested in applying to adopt a pet, please stop by the shelter for an application or fill out an application on-line at www.hsmc-wv.org. Applications are reviewed and decisions are usually made within 48 hours. This gives the shelter staff time to check references and also gives the potential adopter time to prepare for having a new family member.

Adoption Costs include first shots, de-worming, and sometimes spay/neuter and rabies vaccinations:
