'Wagging for Water'

The Taylor County Animal Shelter needs a source of water! Our local animal shelter is in need of a reliable source of water to help care for Taylor County's homeless pets. Our community is very supportive but there is no funding for this endeavor. This facility is run primarily on the love and kindness of a small handful of volunteers. There is a water tank requiring water to be hauled in each week. Local fire departments have assisted in filling the tank but they can not get up the snowy hill in the winter months and the tank often runs dry before the weekly fill-up in the summer. Aside from no drinking water, we face substandard conditions for the animals plus the volunteers. Clean water is vital to a healthy shelter environment. Clean water contributes to healthier animals resulting in higher adoptions rates and less veterinary bills. Local officials have pledged some assistance but we are far short of the amount required for the 2000 feet of water line. Our current estimate is $30,000 to get city water to the shelter. So can you help us to move a mountain and obtain the much needed city water for these wonderful animals in Taylor County? We need 2,000 people to pledge $15 to buy a foot of water line!!

Who We Are

We are a local Humane Society established March 2001. Our city's shelter is worked by the Humane Society's volunteers and a full time dog warden. We are dedicated in trying to save every animal that comes into the shelter. We are an upbeat and hopeful team.

Monthly Meetings: 4th Thursday every month
Call the shelter for dates, time and location 304-265-4215

We welcome new, hardworking, and honest volunteers. The shelter needs daily help with cleaning, feeding, walking, socializing, grooming, maintnenance and other jobs.
