OUR FEATURED DOG IS ROXIE



ROXIE is a 3 yr. old Shepherd/Collie mix. Roxie is spayed. She gets along well with everyone at the shelter. Please come down and meet him one today!



OUR FEATURED CATS ARE FLUFFY & SYLVIA

FLUFFY & SYLVIA are two sweet seniors that came into the shelter together. They have been together all their lives and would love to find a nice retirement home together as well. A senior animals is so easy. They just want a little affection and a lot of naptime.

We would love it if our featured pets could be fostered to get a break from living in a kennel. If you can't foster or adopt, maybe you'd be able to sponsor this pet? See cost below. DISCOUNT SPAY/NEUTER RUN

Every other month, the shelter takes owned pets and sponsored shelter animals to a discount spay/neuter facility. If you have a pet that needs to be altered, or would like to sponsor a shelter animal, please contact the shelter at 304-643-4721. Please spay and neuter your barn cats and hunting dogs too!

The cost to have a cat altered, along with a rabies shot, is $22 for a male and $37 for a female. The cost to have a male dog neutered, along with rabies shot, is $42 ($52 if over 40 pounds). The cost to have a female dog spayed, along with rabies shot, is $47 ($52 if over 40 pounds). This must be paid in cash, no credit cards.

NOTE: This run happens every one or two months - the next one will be on Wednesday, July 8. Please call the shelter to reserve a slot.

RESCUE

We're rescue-friendly! ~ Rescues please call 304-643-4721.
We have to put many nice cats and dogs down due to overcrowding. Rescues (throughout the northeast) please help!

We have transport assistance to these states: MD/PA/NJ/NY/CT/NH. All rescue/adoption/surrender inquiries should be made via phone at 304-643-4721, or by emailing the Shelter Manager.



NEWS

We need volunteers! Can someone come down to the shelter one or two days a week to help out? If so, please email us. Thanks!

We are in URGENT need of foster homes! Please email us if you can short-term foster a dog or cat while it awaits transport to a rescue.

PLEASE DONATE SUPPLIES AND FOOD OR SPONSOR ANIMALS:


Some of the things the shelter and the animals can use are listed below. Please call if you have any questions about what the shelter can use. It's really cold on the animals. Can you donate some straw to line their doghouses to help keep them keep warm?

1. Cleaning supplies such as Clorox, paper towels, newspapers, and garbage bags.

2. Clay kitty litter

3. Dry and canned cat/kitten food

4. Dry and canned dog/puppy food

5. Toys and treats for both dogs and cats - only heavy duty toys that can put up with lots of chewing. (Real tennis balls are good, but the ones packaged as pet toys are shredded too easily).

6. Small and medium-sized dog collars (we have plenty of large ones),

7. Plastic pet carriers or crates

8. Outside dog kennels

9. DOGLOOS - please!!! It's getting cold and many of our dogs are in outside pens. We'll gladly accept used ones.

10. Frontline Plus for dogs or cats, Advantage for cats

11. Broad-spectrum wormers like Drontal, Canex, Panacur, or Safeguard (Safeguard is available at livestock feed stores - the generic version of Panacur)

12. Towels and bedding, including linens, sheets, pillowcases, comforters, blankets, towels

13. Giftcards to WalMart, Sam's, Pet Supplies Plus, and We Luv Pets

14. Gasoline Cards would be a tremendous help for us when we drive animals to the vet 40 miles away, and when we drive 4 hours to meet rescues.

If you buy a 3-pack, you could actually sponsor 3 animals. Some of our dogs come in covered in ticks. You can enclose special handling instructions with your order to designate an animal, but please consider emailing or phoning the shelter to let us know that you put in an order so that we know to expect it.



PLEASE DONATE DOG BEDS:

Donate a Bed We have chosen Kuranda dog beds for our boarding facilities because they are so good for our dogs. We still don't have enough for all of our kennels. The dogs love these beds and they don't have to lay on the hard cement. Even dogs that have never seen a bed in their lives take to these beds quickly. If you would like to donate a bed so another dog can sleep in proper comfort, please click here.
