News

The Raleigh County Animal Rescue (RCAR) is a small, nonprofit, no-kill organization. We have been blessed to see our vision to help our “furry friends” become a reality, but we have many more mountains to climb to become the viable organization we would like to be. We thank our members, volunteers and those who support us, but we are always in need of more. Please consider helping us in anyway you can and by helping us, you will be helping our animal companions.

The Raleigh County Animal Rescue (RCAR), a no-kill shelter, and the Humane Society of Raleigh County (HSRC) a.k.a. Raleigh County Animal Shelter (RCAS), a kill shelter, are two totally different organizations.

The RCAR holds a monthly meeting downstairs, at the Raleigh County Public Library in Beckley, WV. We are always in need of new members and volunteers. Please help us and "make a difference" in the lives of our pet companions. They need you! They are dependent upon you! To find out when the meetings are held, E-MAIL or call for more information at (304) 228-9047.

On Tuesdays, the RCAR’s staff can be found on the noon news at CBS 59. This station so graciously allows us the air time and calls the segment a “Paws in the News.” RCAR thinks this is very clever and we really appreciate all CBS 59 does.

Radio station Groovy 94 has a pet segment called Critter Tuesday, please listen to Ted Morrow and Parry Tuesday Morning at 8:45 a.m. Thank you Grovvy 94 for all your support.

On Fridays, the RCAR’s staff is on WOAY Channel 4 which is located in Oak Hill, WV. The segment airs during the noon news. WOAY does a great job! We are forever grateful. Moreover, the animals are grateful because this allows them to be adopted.

Also on Fridays RCAR's staff can be found on WVVA Channed 6 at 5 p.m. This allow for greater exposure and more adoptions.

Thanks to both TV and radio stations for being a part of what helps our furry pals!!!!

Who We Are

The Raleigh County Animal Rescue (RCAR) whose home base is located in Coal City, WV was active in rescuing our pet companions prior to becoming an organization in March 2003. The RCAR is a small "no-kill" organization and operates only through donations and volunteers. Currently we are dedicated to helping homeless, abandonded or abused animals. Our efforts are guided toward finding permanent homes for our animals. Along with this, we stress the importance of neutering and spaying all pets in order to maintain their good health and benefit society.

Adopting a friend

The Raleigh County Animal Rescue does require potential pet guardians to sign a contract that states the pet is to be spayed or neutered when age appropriate. Also, new guardians are to provide future veterinarian care and allow RCAR to check on the pet in the future. The adoption price on each pet varies. The RCAR reserves the right to refuse adoption to anyone the RCAR feels is unsuitable to adopt.

Come Visit Us!

At this time, the RCAR does not have an animal shelter. All of our pets are kept at foster homes. To adopt a pet, please call 1 (304) 228-9047 or visit us at www.raleighcountyanimalrescue.com.
