Noah's Ark

Noah's Ark is a 501-c-3 non-profit, two-person volunteer organization, in business since 1991, that strives to keep pets out of area shelters, while placing them from their former owner's home or from foster homes. In the case of 'strays', they are placed in foster care while awaiting adoption.

99% of our adult pets are spayed or neutered prior to adoption, [in some situations however, due to time constraints, this is done following adoption], are current on distemper-parvo vaccinations and wormings, and in most cases, have had the kennel cough preventive. Some have also had flea treatments, if necessary, such as capstar, advantage, or frontline, and often, heartworm test and basic bloodwork. Our adoption fees are usually around $125 depending on our expenses. Sterilization deposits are required for puppy adoptions.

Our Pet List

Pet of the Month

Our pet of the month introduces itself...
Our 'PET OF THE MONTH: We are regrouping after our little Beagle fellow Jake found a home, and have a Red Doxie named Heidi.. Go meet her!

*********** Sorry, but WE DON'T RESPOND TO:: anonymous e-mails - - or first-name-only e-mails - - or those that don't say what city/state is their residence. Sorry, it is too time-consuming. And NO, we do NOT "ship", to anywhere, any place, any time.

Who We Are

Our slogan is 'two by two, a dog and you', as we firmly believe in the benefits companion animals bring to people, physically, mentally, and emotionally, aside from just the routine ways that pets enrich and enhance our lives.

Adopting a friend

It takes time and assessment to make appropriate and lifelong matches. If you're in a rush, it's best you look elsewhere for a dog as we will undoubtedly move too slowly for you.

If you have a dog already, we'll want you to bring your dog, so it and the prospective 'new addition' to the family can meet, and their compatability be evaluated. If you have children, we need them to come as well for the same reason of assessing compatability.

Whenever possible, we place locally. That means within the immediate Wheeling area. Logistically, long-distance adoptions can be problematic, as our procedures involve the potential of at least a couple of meetings, which means the entire family - - including existing pets, must come. That can be hard on "outta-towners". And generally, we do not do same-day adoptions, another thing that can be hard on outta-towners.

We work out of former owners' homes, and foster homes, as we have no 'facility' as such. We make appointments with folks, to show the dogs or puppies, and choose appropriate, convenient-as-possible settings and locations, to meet with prospective adoptors.

IMPORTANT: We take only e-mail inquiries intially, make local calls only after initial e mail correspondences.

IMPORTANT: In your e mail inquiry, we need you to send us your name, first and last, and your city/state, AS WELL AS other general information such as:

Do you own? or rent? If rent, we need written ok from landlord, as well as name and phone # of landlord.

Do you work? Does spouse work?

Do you have children? If so, ages?

Are you fenced?

Do you own any dog/dogs now, and if so what type/breed etc, details

Is it or are they outside type dogs?

Is it fixed? Current on vaccinations and wormings?

What vet do you use?

If no dog or dogs now, have you ever owned one/any , and details about this or these pets, including how long ago this was, and what happened to it.

Are you looking for an outside-type dog?

And any other information you'd like to send would be helpful.
