Badgerland German Shepherd Rescue (BGSR) is an incorporated group of individuals volunteering their time, money, love and efforts to rescue German Shepherd Dogs, whether or not purebred, who have been abandoned, surrendered to animal shelters/humane societies or surrendered to BGSR by their guardian. We mainly serve Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois but have been known to adopt dogs to individuals in Minnesota and as far south as Central Illinois.
General Rescue Information: All "Rescued" German Shepherd Dogs are taken to a veterinarian to be treated for any obvious medical condition, brought current on all shots, and spayed or neutered. Each dog is placed in a loving foster home until a suitable permanent home can be found. Our rescued German Shepherd Dogs come in all ages, colors, sizes and personalities.
Potential new homes are thoroughly pre-screened. Potential adoptive guardians must be willing to bring a German Shepherd Dog into their home as a family member. Owners must be prepared to provide proper food and clean water, vaccinations and any other medical expenses, daily exercise, and most of all, lots of love. Adopters are responsible for any shipping expenses over and above the adoption fee for long distance placements.
We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and rely solely on donations from caring individuals. Donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law. Please consult your tax advisor.
Adoption
BGSR makes every effort to place dogs in the most compatible, permanent home possible. All adoptions are based on a legal and binding contract. BGSR requires all applicants to complete a "Rescue Application" form, which is available online on our website: www.bgsr.org Based on the information provided on your application, we will try to make the best match for your lifestyle and family. All adoption fees inlcude: vaccinations, deworming, heartworm test, sterilization.
Our dogs are in foster homes so we are able to get to know them very well. We socialize our dogs and temperment test them so that we can make the best match possible.
We conduct home visits to ensure that the conditions are appropriate for our dogs.
