Who We Are

Fox Valley Humane Association, Ltd., is dedicated to providing a safe haven and care for all animals and promoting humane treatment through public awareness and community education.

Adopting a friend

On your first visit, you can look for your new companion in our cat/kitten room, dog and puppy cages and exotic animals area (we often have rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, hamsters, birds and more available for adoption). If you find an animal who is a good fit for your home, you may fill out an adoption application at this time. We require that you bring all family members to meet your potential new pet, to make sure everyone agrees on bringing the pet of choice into your home.

You must then wait 24 hours. This gives shelter staff the time needed to process your paperwork and contact the references listed. It also gives you time to reconsider your decision. This is a commitment for the remainder of the animal’s life.

If others have applied for adoption for the same pet, each application is evaluated based on the home environment of the individual/family. The adopting individual/family is then chosen based on which home environment is most suitable for the individual pet's needs.

When your application is approved and all family members have met the pet, you will be able to pick up the new member of your family. At this time, you will receive information on how to properly care for your pet. Care staff will be on hand to answer any questions.

Adoption Fees:

Adoption fees help to pay for the care and vaccinations of the more than 4,000 animals that come to our shelter annually. Our cat prices are: sterilized and unsterilized cats for $40.00 or two cat "buddies" for $55.00! (Please consider adopting two kitties--not only does it save lives, a companion helps your kitty in so many ways!) Early spayed/neutered kittens are $125.00. "Gift of a Lifetime" cats (cats 3 years and older) are $25.

Dog adoption prices range from $150 to $300.

Kittens less than 6 months old may be subject to a $100.00 sterilization deposit, depending on adopter's past pet history. Sterilization deposit is refundable upon veterinary confirmation of spay or neuter.

If you are adopting an unsterilized cat over 6 months old, after your application has been approved, an appointment is made by the adopter at a local veterinary clinic (cost differs and will be paid by the adopter). We will then deliver the cat to that clinic.

Puppies less than 6 months old may be subject to a $100.00 sterilization deposit, depending on the adopter's past pet history. Sterilization deposit is refundable upon veterinary confirmation of spay or neuter.

Dogs over 6 months of age--after application is approved, an appointment is made by the adopter at a local veterinary clinic (cost differs and will be paid by the adopter). We will then deliver the dog to that clinic.

Ferrets, love birds, cockatiels, iguanas and spayed and neutered rabbits are $40 plus tax. All other exotics without equipment are $5 and exotics with equipment are $15. All iguanas are $40 plus tax.

Local veterinarians that participate in FVHA's programs include All Creatures Animal Hospital, American Animal Hospital of Neenah, Animal Medical Center, Appanasha Pet Clinics, Apple Valley Pet Clinics, Countryside Veterinary Service, Country View Animal Hospital, Crossroads Veterinary Clinic, Fox River Animal Hospital, Fox Valley Cat Clinic, Heritage Animal Hospital, Kaukauna Veterinary Clinic, North Heights Veterinary Clinic, Sherwood Animal Hospital and Wrightstown Veterinary Center.

Special Programs

Post for the Paws

Post for the Paws is a program that was created with the goal of increasing our shelter pets' chances for adoption by posting their photos and bios at local businesses, churches, schools and more! Volunteers are sent a Microsoft Word file via e-mail every week (usually about 4-5 pages with 5 bios per page) that they can simply print out, and post anywhere! If you are interested in posting the pets in our community, please obtain permission from the company's manager or school administrator, and call Jenni Olson at 733-1717 ext. 104 or e-mail her at volunteers@foxvalleypets.org to find out how to get started! You'll be giving thousands of homeless animals a better chance of being adopted!

Volunteering and Donations

We are always in need of volunteers and donations. We are a private, non-profit organization. Our annual budget is in excess of $700,000 per year. We receive no tax dollars, United Way monies, state or national funding. The balance is raised through private donations, fundraisers, services and corporate support.

We have a number of volunteer, fundraising and outreach opportunities.

The FVHA and our animal residents strongly rely on the many dedicated, talented volunteers who give generously of themselves to help homeless, abandoned and abused animals. We are always in need of volunteers in a wide variety of areas, including o Foster caring for an animal in your home o Walking shelter dogs during shelter hours o Socializing animals with mild behavioral problems o Helping the kennel care staff care for the animals o Assisting with a variety of administrative functions o Assisting with dishes, laundry and other cleaning duties o Interacting with the public through outreach projects o Assisting with special events and fundraising o And many more projects that come up on a daily basis!
