Who We Are

Mit Liebe (which means 'with love' in German), GSD Rescue is a 501C3, non-profit organization ( WI state License # 272376-DS) that helps the neglected, abused, and/or abandoned German Shepherd Dogs. Our rescue is made up of a handful of dedicated volunteers that pride themselves with fundraising, dog care, and communication with the public on responsible pet ownership and the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. The dogs that come into our care are taken to the vet for a check-up, heart worm test, and vaccinations that they would need. An appointment is then set up to have the dog spayed or neutered, if it hasn't been taken care of by the previous owner. The dogs are placed in a foster home for a minimum of 3 weeks before they are available for adoption. During this time, the foster parent works with the dog on house manners and some basic obedience, among other things.

Adopting a friend

Note: We do NOT adopt out between Thanksgiving and New Years.

If you are interested in adopting a German Shepherd Dog, please fill out an application, We will then check your references, and call your vet. If the references turn out positive, we will then set up an appointment with you and do a home visit. If the home visit is satisfactory, you may then meet the dog and see how he/she fits in your family. We do try to keep in touch with all of our new parents.
As of Feb 1st, 2012, our adoption fees are: $250.00 for dogs up to age 5 and $200.00 for dogs over age 5.

First God made the earth and sky, the flowers and the trees. Then He made the animals and all the birds and bees. And when His work was finished no two were quite the same. He said "I'll walk this earth of mine and give each one a name." And so He traveled land and sea and everywhere he went, one little creature followed Him as time with each He spent. When all were named upon the earth and in the sky and sea, this little creature said, "Dear God, is there not a name for me?" The Father smiled and softly said, "I've left you to the end. I've turned my own name back to front and call you DOG, my friend."
