Who We Are
The Humane Society of Douglas County (HSDC) was founded in July of 1975 in Superior, Wisconsin. The purpose of this society is the prevention of cruelty to animals, the relief of suffering among animals, and the extension of humane education.
It is the policy of this Humane Society to provide humane care and treatment for all animals needing protection in the area served by the society. To seek to return lost animals to their owners, to seek suitable homes for animals without owners. To provide humane euthanasia when necessary.
We rely on donations, adoptions, and fund raisers to keep our doors open to the homeless animals of our area. Donations are welcomed and can be sent to HSDC, P.O. Box 891, Superior, WI 54880.
Our memberships are annual at $5 for juniors under 18, $10.50 for a single adult with vote, $20 for family membership- 2 adults voting, and a single life membership is $150. A Non-voting Business Membership is $35. Membership applications can be requested from or sent to: Humane Society of Douglas County, Inc., PO Box 891, Superior, Wisconsin 54880-0891.
The shelter is operated 7 days a week from 10AM to 2PM.**We are also open Wednesday evenings from 5-8PM. Phone 715-398-6784.

Unaltered - Dogs: $60
Unaltered - Cats: $55 (includes feline leukemia tested negative)
Altered - Dogs: $120
Altered - Cats: $90 (includes feline leukemia tested negative)
$10 additional if they have a current rabies vaccination,
$10 additional if cats are already declawed
