Volunteering:

You can volunteer in SO MANY ways!

Area volunteers donate much of their time and talents and we simply could not exist without them. If you would like to become a volunteer and make a difference in the lives of homeless pets, please contact the shelter at (715) 839-4747.

Volunteers help at all the various fundraisers we have and also with programs such as the canister program, poster distribution, rabies clinic, pet of the week and nursing home pet therapy.

Volunteering At The Shelter

We have a volunteer orientation program that helps us establish what areas new volunteers are interested in and how they can help. This orientation also familiarizes the volunteer with the shelter; its policies and guidelines. It meets regularly every first and third Wednesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. (subject to change, so please call for details).

Dog exercisers and Cat Cuddlers assist the staff in caring for our cats and dogs. They groom, cuddle, play with the cats and kittens, walk and play with the dogs, do obedience training and, in general ensure that our animals get all of the affection and socialization they need.

General shelter work -We can always use extra help with daily chores such as laundry and cleaning, or helping the staffwith paperwork and office upkeep.

Outreach volunteers make school presentations and take part in special events. This is a good opportunity for those who want to volunteer on a limited basis.

Fundraisers
The Eau Claire County Humane Association is largely funded by fundraisers that are held throughout the year. Volunteers help work at these events, such as candy bar sales, the Fido Fun Run dog walk, dog washes, gift wrapping, brat stands, thrift sales, holiday craft & bake bazaars, raffles, pictures with Santa and pet food drives, just to name a few.

Additional Volunteer Needed Now: administrative assistant to the executive director

Committees
The shelter has committees where volunteers lend a hand.

Fundraising Committee
The fundraising committee plans and organizes our fundraisers. They constantly look for new and creative ways to increase our revenue, so that we can continue to accomplish our mission.

Education/Outreach Committee
The Education/Outreach Committee promotes the Shelter and its mission within the community. They strive to make the public aware of the effects of pet overpopulation and the need for responsible pet ownership through appearances at community/school events and other outreach activities
