Our Mission

At DCHS, our mission is clear and unwavering: to enhance the well-being of companion animals in our community and secure permanent, loving homes for those in our care. We are committed to advocating for those with no voice of their own. We proudly uphold our no-kill philosophy—a commitment that has defined our organization since its inception—and we firmly believe that every life is valuable, and that no animal should be sacrificed to make room for another. Each incoming pet undergoes thorough medical evaluations, treatment, rehabilitation, and adoption services.

The Dunn County Humane Society was formed in response to an act of cruelty which resulted in the death of Flash, a four-year-old Basset Hound. It is committed to the prevention of animal suffering in his memory. The Society was chartered in December 1993 by the State of Wisconsin as a certified nonprofit organization.

Adoption Policy

Our facility is appointment only, and if you are interested in adopting one of our companion pets, then you must fill out an online application.

Once our Adoption Counselors have received your application, they will follow-up with you to learn more about your lifestyle, living situation, and what you are looking for in a pet! Then our Adoption Counselors will schedule a time for you to come to our facility and visit with the pets.

The whole process can take 2-7 days depending on your schedule and our staff resources, and we offer appointments every day of the week.

Our website is updated more frequently than our Petfinder profile, so please check out our website at www.dunncountyhumanesociety.org for more information about our adoptable pets, policies, and outreach.
