We were established in 1988. We find homes for approximately 800 dogs and cats per year that come to us from rural Adams County, Wisconsin. We are open from 12:00 to 5:00 P.M. Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Sunday 12-4pm. Closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (by apointment only) and holidays. Visit our web page at

Adopting a friend
All potential adopters are required to fill out a pre-adoption questionnaire. ACHS has the right to reject any application. The cost to adopt a dog is $100.00. If the dog or puppy is not spayed/neutered already there will be an additional $100 deposit. The deposit is refundable upon proof of spay/neuter. The cost to adopt a cat is $50.00 if the cat is spayed/neutered or $25.00 with a $50 deposit if still intact. The deposit is refundable upon proof of spay/neuter. If the cat or dog is still intact, the adopter agrees to have the animal spayed/neutered within 30 days, if a kitten or puppy are to young then you will have 90 days.
An adoption application can be downloaded. For further information, please call the shelter during business hours. When coming to pick up your new adopted pet please bring your own collar and leash for dogs.
