Harvey is a 7 year old male tabby that was mauled by a dog. He had several puncture wounds and one that punctured his lung causing it to collapse. With the loving care of Dr. Rex T Bach of Norwood Animal Clinic and their staff Harvey underwent surgery to have his lung re-inflated and his infected tissue cut out and sewn back up. He is recovering well and in need of bed rest, TLC, and antibiotics to ward off any infections such as pneumonia that might result from having his lung open. We are hoping for a great recovery for Harvey. If you would like to donate to help with the cost of Harvey's surgery, please click on the following donation button to give any amount:
News
One Life @ A Time needs volunteers every spring to help socialize kittens. Fosters are always welcome year round. If interested in fostering for One Life @ A Time please contact us for a volunteer application. If you are unable to adopt but love animals consider sponsoring a pet. These donations are welcome in any amount and help pay for vetting expenses.
Who We Are
I am an independant Rescuer out of Milwaukee. I specialize in rescues of small breed dogs. I also rescue cats and kittens in the busy Spring season. If I do not have any pets listed for adoption shelters and humane societies are welcome to contact me to see if I can help them by taking in pets that are going to be euthanized.
Adopting a friend
If you are interested in adopting any animals I have listed, please contact me with your address and I will send you an application in the mail or fax it to you. The adoption process is as follows:
If the application looks good I will contact your vet and other refs.
Once applications are verified and refference checks are completed, a home visit is set up. At that time I will bring the animal/s you are interested in adopting to make sure everyone is a good fit and that any current companion animals work out with the new one/s.
If everything at the home visit goes well and One Life @ A Time feels you are a good candidate for the adoption process, the adoption contract gets filled out and terms and agreements regarding the adoption are set. The pet may or may not be available right away depending on vetting required. Neuters and Spays are maditory for One Life @ A Time adoptions.
Out of state adoptions are welcome.
Fees vary depending on the vetting needed by animals in the adoption program. Please contact One Life @ A Time for details. Full grown animals have smaller adoption fees. Please consider giving an older pet a second chance~!
All animals are fully vetted prior to adoption. Spays and Neuters are done prior to adoptions as well, no exceptions. I am willing to work with people on the time frame of adoption if they do not wish to wait until 6 months for spay and neuter. I am willing to reduce the adoption fee providing proof of spay or neuter (receipt from vet) is provided by the adoptee within 4 months of adoption if they would like to adopt sooner.
I work on a first come first serve basis but always keep the animal's best interest in mind. If someone would like to adopt two siblings together they will receive priority as it is always nice to keep litter mates together when you can.
I will also place a home owner over a renter. Renting is the number two reason people surrender animals. When new jobs are taken and people move many times the new location does not allow pets.
I do not require a fenced yard, but do find it a nice asset for pet ownership and the safety of the animal.
All current pets must be UDT with routine exams and vaccinations or their application will NOT be considered.
One Life @ A Time feels it is very important to keep your pet's health a top priority along with spaying and neutering your companion animals.
