Safety First
Remember to keep your pets safe during this busy time of the year. Keep chocolate, poisonous plants, anti-freeze and any other potential hazards out of your pet's reach. Don't forget how cold it is...especially little dogs and puppies get cold quickly. Never leave your pets outdoors unattended. Sadly we have had reports of coyotes attacking 30-40 lb dogs (Waukesha Co.) They are hungry and as more and more of their natural habitat is developed into housing and businesses, they still need food and to feed their young. Your dog becomes prey, especially if left on a tether and unattended...now they can not even get away. Please keep a close eye - especially after dark. Keep the address and phone number of your closest animal emergency facility available. Just like people, emergencies happen with our animals and time may be critical.
| Featured Pet Meet Blue
Blue is a fabulous brindle pit bull. He has gorgeous upright ears and does fabulously with cats. Blue came to rescue 15 months ago. The new baby in his family was so allergic to him, she ended up in the hospital. Unfortunately, because of his breed, poor Blue has not had a fair chance at a home of his own. Blue deserves a forever home. Can you give him that?

About Us
JR's Pups-N-Stuff began with one goal in mind - to save animals from life threatening situations. That ideal has gotten us to where we are today. We've had quite a few happy endings and will continue to provide excellent homes to all future rescue dogs.
We do not discriminate. We do not rescue dogs specifically because of their breed or age. We rescue animals that need us to save their lives. They may be at risk of euthanasia for many reasons. Primarily this is due to space limitations or health issues.
Our first dogs arrived on May 19th through the efforts of two volunteers who drove through the night to the Kentucky/Tennessee border. Holli and her nine 1 week old puppies, and Chiqua who was expecting her puppies any day, were carefully transported back and placed in foster homes, where they would be until their puppies reached eight weeks of age and their forever homes were found.
Since our first adoption of Shelby took place on June 15, 2007, JR’s Pups-N-Stuff has found forever homes for over 575 dogs, we are working to place over 50 dogs right now as well. Most recently we placed about 45 cats. Heartworm treatments have been provided for over 37 dogs. Heartworm would be a death sentence for these dogs if they were left in the shelters.
Our rescue was built by a network of foster parents. Through the growth, we have discovered life’s greatest joys in the kind, wonderful and caring people that have joined us. Not only people who want to foster dogs, but who will transport them, build websites, do home visits, and manage paperwork. As the group grows, we are able to save the lives of more dogs every day. We are doing what we set out to do. We've become the little rescue with a big heart.

Why we do what we do
When animals arrive in rescue, they are typically tired, filthy and without a notion of love. Most are underweight and unhealthy. It's amazing to see them forgive us for what others have done to them. They embrace their foster parents and begin their journey to new and happy lives.
We don’t need rewards for what we do, you see life’s greatest rewards come from watching a rescue dog play with a ball for the first time…or enjoy the warm hearth in front of the fireplace…or when they first understand that food does indeed come every day. When a child reaches out to love that rescue dog - it melts your heart.
To see these dogs come from such horrible circumstances and rise above their past, is truly inspiring. They forgive and forget as they play with their new toys after a nice walk around the block. The things we humans can learn from our dogs sometimes leaves us aw struck.
So when you meet us, please excuse us if we have dog hair on our coats, or paw prints on our jeans. Understand that after getting ready to meet you, a dog needed a little extra love before we left. Maybe that last round of fetch left us with a wind blown look. It is not intended to be disrespectful…its just the best spent time of the day is playing with a dog that wants to be loved.
"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by moments
that take our breath away."
Every dog I meet that needs help, takes my breath away. Join us and let a rescue animal take your breath away. Your heart will have all the rewards.
Please check our petfinder listing to see the boys and girls still waiting for their forever homes.
A woman in rescue wrote this note to her adopters after several rough adoptions. She makes some very valid points that we'd
like to share with you.
Note to adopters: Lassie and Cleo and Rin Tin Tin and Toto don't show up in rescue. We don't get the elegantly coiffed,
classically beautiful, completely trained, perfectly behaved dog. We get the leftovers. Dogs that other people have
incompetently bred, inadequately socialized, ineffectively "trained," and badly treated. Most Rescue dogs have had it.
They've been pushed from one lousy situation to another. They've never had proper veterinary care, kind and consistent
training, or sufficient company. They've lived outside, in a crate, or in the basement. They're scared, depressed and
anxious. Some are angry. Some are sick. Some have given up.
But we are Rescue and we don't give up. We never give up on a dog. We know that a dog is a living being, with a spirit and a
heart and feelings. Our dogs are not commodities, things, or garbage. They are part of sacred creation and they deserve as
much love and care and respect as the next Westminster champion. So please, please don't come to rescue in the hopes of
getting a "bargain," or indeed of "getting" anything. Come to Rescue to give, to love, to save a life -- and to mend your own
spirit. For Rescue will reward you in ways you never thought possible. I can promise you this -- a rescue dog will make you a better person.

Adopting a Friend
Our process includes the completion of an application, reference checks and home visit. Please email us for an application. Upon receipt of the application, we will contact your vet, landlord (if renting) and complete a background check. We will then complete a home visit.
We are a 100% volunteer organization. Most volunteers have full time jobs and families. We are dedicated to helping each and every animal find the right match. Please understand and be patient during the process.
Thank you.
Set up a time to meet your new pet!
We are linked through a group of foster homes and do not have a shelter facility. Please contact us via email to schedule a visit.
