Our Hurricane Katrina Beginning

We have grown and expanded our animal rescue mission since October 2005 and the Hurricane Katrina disaster relief efforts in the affected Gulf states to now launch our own rescue organization, Canine Pet Rescue (CPR).

Canine Pet Rescue group has rescued over 1000 dogs (also cats) since October 2005 and assisted other rescues and shelters with their placements. This was accomplished through two air lifts from the Hurricane Katrina affected areas that were all flown into Kenosha, WI in November and December, 2005, along with a vehicle transport from the affected gulf states in October, 2005 and May, 2006. We felt it was time to move forward and grow due to the overwhelming amount of animals in need.

We are happy to have been added to Petfinders.com as of Feb. 13, 2006.

Who We Are

Canine Pet Rescue (CPR) is an all volunteer organization dedicated to rescuing dogs in need, rehabilitating if necessary, addressing any behavior issues and then adopting to approved homes where they will be loved as part of a family.

Give a dog a bone! CPR also encourages responsible pet care and striving to increase awareness of the consequences of pet over population through educational programs and materials.

Our organization has many wonderful foster homes which allows the dogs to be fully evaluated in order to place them with their future permanent homes. This benefits the families as much as the dogs to ensure a successful adoption for all.

Foster homes are very important to our group. We are always in need of new volunteers to house dogs or cats while they're waiting for their permanent home. *****FOSTER HOME APPLICATION*****

Please contact Tami Wojo with any inquiries at 262-496-3552.

CPR has also set up a donation program with The Animal Hospital of Gurnee to assist in our veterinary fees for all the dogs we have adopted into our program. If you are interested in donating, the address is:

Adopting a Friend

Our organization is looking for loving and caring homes for our rescued pets. We are willing to work with many situations and families to ensure the appropriate home for our available animals.

Adoption fees are as follows:

Small dogs (25 pounds and under OR all puppies less than 6 months of age) are $250.00.

Purebred dogs (older than 6 months) are: $200.00.

Senior (8 years and older) or special needs dogs are $100.00.

All other dogs are $150.00.

Kittens (up to 1 year old) are $100.00.

All other cats are $75.00.

All of our animals receive a veterinary exam and are up to date on all vaccines (age appropriate), tested for heartworm, wormed for intestinal parasites and started on their flea, tick and heartworm preventative. Our animals are spayed/neutered (unless a special condition requires delay in spay/neuter). If an animal is not altered at the time of adoption, we require a $50 spay/neuter deposit which will be refunded upon proof of altering.

An adoption application and required forms will be available to you from the foster home when meeting with a dog you select. You may also download, print and fill out the following forms below (in PDF format) and bring them with you when adopting a dog ( Click on the links below and it will bring the document up in a separate window):

How To Meet With A Dog You Select

Canine Pet Rescue (CPR) does not operate from a shelter but rather a network of foster homes in different areas of Southeast Wisconsin and Northern Illinois.

Dogs bring Love! The foster home setting allows us to better evaluate the dog's temperament and help them adjust to family life in order to make a perfect match with their future permanent homes.

When you have found a dog that you are interested in meeting, please call or email (if applicable) the foster home contact name on the pet description page to mutually arrange a meeting with them directly. The foster home contact can also provide you with the most up to date information on the dog, the dog's availability and any questions you may have about the dog. At that arranged appointment, you may also print and fill out the Adoption Application Forms from the above links and bring them with you.

For any other information on our rescue efforts, please contact Tami Wojo at 262-496-3552.
