Who We Are
The Vilas County Animal Shelter is located on Hwy. 45 North between Conover and Eagle River. Formerly we were located in Eagle River behind the holiday station on the north end of town.
With the addition of the Humane Society of Vilas County we have added many new faces to our facility.
Our president, Steven Lucareli, was the previous Vilas County District Attorney. He successfully prosecuted several local animal abuse/neglect cases during his term.
Our secretary, Kathy Oatman, is a long time shelter volunteer who obedience trains/shows labrador retrievers. She is also a HSVC Charter member.
Our treasurer, Pam Reagan, is a current volunteer who enjoys cat care at the shelter. She is relatively new to the area.
We have several members at large including volunteers Rusty Williams, Bob Egan, and long time area veterinarian Dr. E.F. Gough.
Our adoption policy is quite simple! First, you have to come into the shelter and find a pet that will suit your family. Then you fill out an application consisting of your name, address, veterinarian, and a short adoption agreement.
One thing that we would like to mention is that the Humane Society of Vilas County does not adopt dogs out to live outside.
