Humane Society of Barron County is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), open door animal shelter serving Barron County. Many changes have occurred at the shelter since March, 2010, including a new Board of Directors, new shelter manager, and new staff members. We also have certified Animal Behaviorists who temperament test all of our canines and provide handler training for staff and volunteers, and work with many of our dogs on socialization and basic obedience training.

We are contracted with Barron County to serve as the county impound but still rely primarily on funds from donations, adoptions, memberships, and fundraisers to keep our doors open for the homeless animals of Barron County.

All animals are vaccinated for distemper and wormed before leaving our shelter. Dogs are also given bordetalla.

* Unaltered animals require the pre-payment of the spay/neuter at the veterinarian of your choice before they can leave the shelter*
