“A PLACE TO BARK” is a private no kill foster and adoption rescue dedicated to the welfare of animals. Established in 2001, we work with Animal Control Agencies, rescue animals from high kill shelters and foster them till they are healthy.
This provides the best possible situation, for the animals.
Many of our animals that do not need special care or would do well in a shelter situation go to Humane Societies that we network with.
Knowing and researching the breed you are interested in is a must, to see if the breed you are considering matches your household and lifestyle.
Our screening process can seem quite strict, please understand that we have only the animals best interests in mind and try to match animals to family lifestyles.
We always take our animals back, if for some reason there is a lifestyle change or if things just don't work out.

Who We Are
We are a privately run rescue, specializing in retraining & rehoming animals in need.
We work with the local humane societies in Milwakee, Chicago and Tennessee.
We are not a shelter, but a rescue run out of our homes.
Working with only a small number of animals, we try to provide the best training and placement possible.
ALL animals are fixed, current on shots, microchipped, heartworm tested and if from out of state have current health certificates.
Adopting a friend
You must be 21 Years of age or older to adopt a pet.
ALL Adoptions are by appointment only.
This is our home and not a public facility.
Our adoption requirements are as follows:
A phone interview, an adoption application to be filled out and returned to us for review, a home visit, to see if the dog is right for your family & references from your family vet.
After all is approved, an adoption contract must be signed with an adoption fee of $150.00 for dogs and $50.00 for Cats is required.
