Ozaukee Humane Society, Inc.
A division of the Wisconsin Humane Society
The Ozaukee Humane Society's mission is to build a community that values animals and treats them with respect and kindness. Our goal is to save lives.
Who We Are
Founded in 1977, the Ozaukee Humane Society (OHS) provides adoption, education, advocacy, animal control to 13 communities and wildlife information and referral. OHS is a private nonprofit organization and relies on donations from generous contributors to continue providing comprehensive services to the community. A wide variety of volunteer opportunities enhance animal care and client services. OHS merged with the Wisconsin Humane Society in 2004 to increase their impact in the community and more effectively meet the needs of animals. Both the organizations remain focused on a shared mission and service to animals and people in their community.
Adopting a Friend
OHS found homes for nearly 2,000 dogs, cats, rabbits and other small animals in 2006. Animals stay in our adoption program until they find homes. Cats, dogs and rabbits are spayed or neutered and microchipped. Cats and dogs are vaccinated and treated with a parasite preventative and cats are tested for feline leukemia and dogs are tested for heartworm. All of these services are provided before animals are placed in adoption. A free physical examination at participating veterinarians is also included. WHS provides post adoption veterinary care in conjunction with 30 days of gifted pet health insurance.

News
The Ozaukee Humane Society recently merged with the Wisconsin Humane Society in an effort to increase their impact in the community and more effectively meet the needs of animals. To insure continued success, both the Ozaukee and Wisconsin Humane Societies will remain focused on a shared mission and serve needs imminent in each unique community. Both organizations will retain their current names.
Volunteering
Everyday, teams of volunteers help improve the lives of animals at the Ozaukee Humane Society. More than 100 people lend a hand in critical programs fostering animals in their homes, walking dogs, socializing cats, greeting clients, assisting in the retail store and providing our animal guests with enrichment and basic manners. Please join us; complete a volunteer application online at www.ozaukeehumane.org or call 262-377-7580.
