WCR, Inc. is an non-profit group of volunteers who foster dogs in their homes. We do not work out of a shelter and therefore do not have visiting hours. We do our job out of love for our homeless friends! Please understand that we cannot take calls at all times and do not get angry when you can't come right out to pick out a dog and take it home immediately. We have an adoption process which is in place for the permanent safety of the animals in our care. Please respect this.
All dogs in our care are spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, heartworm tested and have gone through a behavioural evaluation. We will do our best to match you up with a permanent new family member!
Adopting a friend
Our adoption process begins with an easy application which we will e-mail to you on request. The e-mail address is ike@wekz.net or emsmith0421@hotmail.com We require a home visit to talk with you about the rescue process and the dog you have chosen, a veterinary reference and an adoption donation which may vary by the age and health of the dog. Many people question why rescue groups charge money for our dogs. It is because the average cost of fully vetting a dog is over $300.00! ALL our donation fees are put into a Veterinary Fund which we use to medically care for our dogs. Without this fund, we would no longer exist! Wisconsin Chihuahua Rescue, Inc. maintains the highest ethical and legal standards of care possible and we will do all we can to provide you with all known information about the dog and will be available for questions and help after the adoption.
Due to the high volume of people interested in Chihuahuas, we often have a waiting list for our dogs so many of the Chihuahuas we accept into the group don't even make it to the website. If you are interested in adopting one it is suggested you send in an application and then we can pre-approve you so that when the perfect dog for you arrives, you are first in line for it.
