Who we are
Wisconsin German Shepherd Rescue initially began in 1991. We were the first and only rescue for German Shepherds in the state at that time. Our mission was to help abused, neglected, and/or abandoned German Shepherds to find a new home for the rest of their life.
Eventually, we started taking in birds and farm animals also. To reflect that, we changed our name to Fur-Ever Friends Animal Sanctuary in 2011.
To date, WGSR/Fur-Ever Friends has placed over 2500 loving pets in new homes.
Mission Statement
The mission of Fur-Ever Friends Animal Rescue & Sanctuary is to protect animals, relieve their suffering, prevent cruelty, and find permanent, adoptive homes for abused, abandoned, neglected, or unwanted animals. We also take in sick or injured animals, and work to rehabilitate them so they can be placed into loving homes. Some of the species we've worked with besides dogs and cats are donkeys, horses, ducks, llamas, peacocks, roosters, goats, sheep, pot belly pigs, primates, tortoises, ferrets, chinchillas, rabbits, emus, and exotic birds. Our goal is to work toward a more compassionate society and we are dedicated to creating a better relationship between people and animals. We are a private, non-profit, humane organization located in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Currently Accepting
We specialize in German bred, high drive, working line German Shepherds, although we also take other dogs, cats, farm animals, and monkeys as availability allows!
You can help!
Fur-Ever Friends is always looking for foster homes and volunteers to come out and socialize the dogs and cats. If interested, please contact the rescue. It is an amazing experience to help the unfortunate homeless pets, and the reward is unconditional love.
