Shelter News

Animals featured on this site are updated as time allows. Things often change daily, and sometimes hourly here so please stop by as there are usually new pets available that haven't been posted online yet.
Our most current listing is on this page: http://www.299pets.org/Default.asp

Adoption Department
Adoptions are processed at the shelter with an adoption interview during regular business hours. Animals often arrive and get adopted faster than this can be updated, so please come by or give us a call during normal business hours.

Adoption fees are only $75. for dogs or cats! That includes the spay/neuter sugery which is usually performed by a local veterinarian after the adoption is processed. This shelter has a mandatory spay/neuter policy. *For animals not yet old enough for surgery- determined by shelter staff - there is an additional deposit (Alteration deposit $40) which is fully refundable after the surgery is completed.

The adoption fee also includes a one-year license (if you live within our service area), a microchip for permanent identification of your pet, first vaccine (FVRCP for cats / DHLLPP-CVK for dogs), as well as the basic spay/neuter surgery, (cats) test for feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus. The test must be done within 10 days of adoption at a participating veterinarian.

We also host periodic Microchip clinics! Our next clinic has not been determined yet, but will probably be in the spring. Cost is $20. per pet. Call for more information.

We cannot return long distance phone calls from the shelter - PLEASE contact us during normal business hours.

We house stray animals also. If you have lost an animal from our service area, please contact shelter personel as soon as possible to see if your pet is here. We highly recommend that you to come into the shelter personally to check for your pet! Descriptions vary from one person to another and you will know your pet best!

Volunteer opportunities! We DO have some available opportunites for volunteering at the shelter. Please call for further info. You must be at least 16 years of age to volunteer. We accept applications year round and fill openings as they become available.

On December 21, 1998 the Cities of Sumner and Puyallup opened a joint Animal Control Shelter. As of Jan. 1, 2006, we are proud to include service to the incorporated areas of Bonney Lake, Sumner, Edgewood, and Puyallup. Dogs and cats living within these areas require an annual license. For your convenience you may license your pets at your City Hall in the cities we serve, except Puyallup. Puyallup citizens must come to the shelter during normal business hours.
