Description
The mission of the Humane Society at Happypaws Farm is to care for all dogs in need but we have a special place in our hearts for the elderly, sick or disabled dogs and those dogs who belong to low-income families. Many dogs are at foster homes in other counties, or in Canada, so an appointment needs to be made to see them. In addition to dog rescue, we also run an animal Food Bank for the low income. Food pick up, with documentation, is every Saturday between the hours of 2:30-4:30. Donations of food for this food bank are always welcomed. We give our about 2,000 lbs of food each month. We also provde medical care for animals belonging to low-income families, as funding allows.

Our dogs are adopted to the best home for them rather than to the first person wanting to adopt them. An application is required, and a home visit is made. We only adopt where a home visit can be made by our staff or volunteers. This is within about a 90 minutes drive of Arlington, WA. The home visit is to determine that the home is completely fenced, with the back door opening into the fenced area, and in other ways safe for the dog. Remote acreage (50 acres or more) may suffice instead of a fenced yard. The dog must also be part of the family. We do not adopt completely outside dogs or dogs for hunting.

Hours
NOTE WE ARE CLOSED 12/19, 12/24 TO 12/27 Saturdays: 2:30-4:30 pm Low Income Animal Food BankBR> Sundays: By appointment in the afternoon - 48 hr notice required Mon-Fri: By appointment in the afternoon - 48 hr notice required
WE ARE CLOSED HOLIDAYS. VOLUNTEERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOMED!

Other Departments
All animals are spayed or neutered before they leave our facility, including puppies at 8 week of age. Adopter must be employed or have income from another source. An adoption application must be completed and a home visit made prior to adoption. A fenced yard is required if the dog can run faster than you, regardless of the size of the dog. People adopting must have all of their current domestic animals spayed or neutered. We do not adopt animals for hunting or to have their tailed docked or ears cropped. We retain the right to refuse adoption to anyone where we do not feel the adoption would be in the best interest of the animal. Though we have a colony of feral (wild) cats, we rarely have domestic cats for adoption. For cats, please contact the cat shelters Purrfect Pals in Arlington (360) 652-9611 or Homeward Bound (425) 488-4444 in Woodinville.

Fees

All spay/neuters are done before the dog/puppy leaves our sanctuary. Post-surgery healing time will vary based on the individual dog. Generally, if you have no children, male dogs may be taken home three days after surgery and females dogs five days after surgery but these times will difer depending on the healing process. If you have
children, the waiting times are longer.
