The Whatcom Humane Society(WHS) was founded in 1902. We are the oldest non-profit animal welfare organization in Whatcom County.
WHS is an open-admission shelter. We turn no animals away regardless of age, medical condition or temperament.
WHS provides care and shelter for over 5,000 animals each year at two shelter locations:
3710 Williamson Way
Bellingham, WA 98226
1661 Baker Creek Place
Bellingham, WA 98226
Services include: Adoptions, Lost & Found, Community Outreach and Humane Education.
The Whatcom Humane Society provides animal control and rescue services for Whatcom County.
WHS investigates cases of animal neglect and cruelty.
We provide spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, deworming and microchip identification PRIOR to adoption.
Staff veterinarians work in the shelter five days a week.
The Whatcom Humane Society operates Paws Awhile, our "eclectic" gift shop located at 1200-10th Street in Bellingham. The store features new and old items donated by the community.
We provide short-term pet safekeeping for victims of domestic violence.
WHS operates a pet food bank, providing pet food to low income residents in need.
