NewsGo and meet some of our SPOT cats at the PetsMart in Burlington - 7 days a week!! Please remember that when you adopt a new pet into your home, it is a lifetime commitment. Make a big difference in saving pets by adopting a FIV positive cat!! There are many false rumors going around about this disease and cats are being unfairly euthanized. Please read about living with a FIV positive cat at: http://www.bestfriends.org/sanctuary/creature/FIV.htm.Who We AreWe began in the fall of 1999, just a small group of animal lovers wanting to see something different in the Skagit Valley. We are a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization and a no-kill rescue service. We receive animals from local shelters, pet owners, and the public. Our network of foster homes take care of these pets until they are adopted into permanent loving homes. Since our beginning, we have tripled in volunteer size and we are extremely grateful for the support. However, good foster homes are always in need !Adopting A FriendThe adoption process consists of the following: 1. Select a pet of interest. 2. Fill out an application, online at savingpetsoneatatime.org - go to Adoption Info. 3. Contact the foster home listed in the pet's description for more information or to set a meeting. 4. There is an interview with an adoption counselor and contractual adoption agreement. Once approved, a $110.00 (for cats) or $140* (for dogs) adoption donation is collected. We can only accept cash for the adoption fee at this time. All pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, cats are tested for FeLV and FIV, cats are vaccinated for FeLV and FVRCP, dogs are vaccinated for DHLPPC and Bordatella. The adoption fee also covers deworming, flea treatment, microchip and a 7 day in-home trial period. If the pet doesn't work out within the trial period, we will refund all but $10.00 of the adoption donation if the pet and all paperwork are returned in good order. All cats must leave in a carrier either provided by us or you, and all dogs must leave on a leash. *Puppies and certain dogs may have a higher adoption fee based on size and breed.![]() Come Visit Us!SPOT is a network of foster homes, so we do not have a central facility.
