Collar of Hope is an all volunteer, all breed dog and cat rescue group. We are commited to helping homeless dogs and cats to find their way into permanent loving homes as a valued member of the family.

We are not discriminatory with size, age or breeds; we just want to help as many nice adoptable dogs as we can and believe they have the right for the chance at their own happy tale!

In addition to all of the important aspects of rescue, foster and adoption... we believe strongly in vaccination campaigns to help minimize the unfortunate and very preventable occurances of parvo and distemper in particular in our communities. Puppies NEED a series of at least 3 vaccines to be protected! They should never go to dog traffic areas until they've completed the whole vaccine series plus a week! A little time for the prevention of such horrific diseases like Parvo and Distemper is more than worth the wait for a wonderful lifetime with your new puppy.

Another topic of importance for us is greater public awareness about animal rescues and the availablity of rescued animals of all genre. We feel that this is an important step in helping to control and reduce the demand of the heartbreaking Puppy Mill situations and irresponsible breeders that are so callous to the plight of homeless dogs and other animals resulting the so many unnecessary deaths every day. Each year about 60,000 dogs are euthanized in Washington State alone that were in shelters!

It is our belief that a dog or puppy who is provided with Training, Socialization, proper Health Care, a good Diet that is wheat and corn free, Excercise along with plenty of Love and Companionship is the recipe for a happy lifetime relationship for a dog and their family.

Steps to Adoption

Dogs can be met once an applicant is preapproved for adoption.
We are an all volunteer rescue and fostering of the dogs is done from the homes of volunteer families so we have no facility to visit.
No one will be permitted to visit a dog without an application preapproval
~NO EXCEPTIONS~

PLEASE BE CERTAIN YOU ARE READY TO ADOPT WHEN YOU APPLY FOR ONE OF OUR RESCUES.
WE WILL NOT HOLD ANY RESCUE FOR VACATIONS, MOVING INTO NEW HOMES, HOLIDAYS, and PUTTING IN NEW FENCES...
YOU'LL HAVE TO CHECK BACK TO SEE IF THE RESCUE IS STILL WITH US WHEN YOU'RE ACTUALLY READY TO ADOPT AND BRING THE RESCUE HOME IF APPROVED TO ADOPT.

Prior to adoption, all of our animals are: examined by a Veterinarian, current on vaccines for their age, flea and worm treated, altered (spayed/neutered) and micro chipped as a minimum.

Our focus is always the animal and finding them the most ideal home for them, so a good match is key and in the forefront of our decisions.

1. ADOPTION APPLICATION ~ Email back to us our completed adoption application which can be found on each pets profile or here on our home page.
If you have difficulties downloading and emailing our application, please email us stating this so we can send the application to you a different way.

2. PROCESS THE COMPLETED APPLICATION ~ By reviewing the application (so please be very thorough when completing it), contacting the Vet reference and personal references as applicable. If we have many applications in at the same time, you may or may not hear back from us right away. We will attempt to select the most viable applicants for the desired dog based first on the application information.
IF THE DOG IS OR POSSIBLY COULD BE a breed of many exclusions in society anymore, you will have to be a homeowner to be considered for their adoption. This includes but may not be limited to: Pit Bull Terriers, Rottweillers, Doberman Pinchers, Mastiffs, and Great Danes

3. INTERVIEW ~ Via phone or email.

4. HOME INSPECTION ~ Home inspection requirements or arrangements will be made for one of the following as a minimum:
~ A personal visit by one of our volunteers
~ Emailing us digital photos of your home that include: the main living areas, dogs area if different, yard, fencing and your address number clearly visible in one photo
~ Arranging a rescue volunteer in your area to perform the home inspection

5. MEET AND GREET ~ IF approved, set up a meet for you to meet the dog you are applying for.
Note: All members and dogs in the household will be required to attend the meet.

6. THE DECISION ~ In the event of multiple applicants, the best suited applicant and match for the dog will be selected to adopt.
Should any applicant be deemed not favorable for the adoption of any dog or cat, for any reason at all at the discretion of the rescue, the adoption will not take place.

6. ADOPTION ~ If the match proves to be favorable, all requirements of continued care will be discussed, an ADOPTION CONTRACT will be signed and ADOPTION FEE will be paid.

7. TAKE YOUR NEW DOG HOME and have a wonderful life together!!!!

NOTE: If you live a distance away, please be prepared to make no less than 1 visit the dog (usually in Kitsap County) but often it will require 2 trips, especially if it's a small breed dog or puppy. We will try our best to accomdate 1 trip if at all possible.

ADOPTION FEES: Our fees are set so that we are able to help ALL rescues that we commit to and take in as fosters rather than the costs incured by each dog, though certain breeds generally are more costly as a whole.
The differences are based on general overall veterinarian care normally required for each catagory, consumer demand for different types or ages of dogs and the fees set by the rescue community in the surrounding areas. We accept cash and checks only.

Our basic fees are as follows OR as posted on the individual profile.
MOST GIANT BREEDS ~ $350-$500
