All potential adopters must complete an adoption form, phone interview and allow for a home visit. Once we have recieved your adoption application you will be contacted by a volunteer to discuss in more detail what type of dog would fit best into your family so that we can find a good match for you.
Adoption Donations Who We Are Hours Information Resources Re-Homing a Coonhound
Adoption donations generally range from $100-$250. Adoption donations contribute to the vet and foster expenses of future coonhounds in need.
Coonhound Opportunities Organization Northwest (NW Coonhound Rescue) is a private non-profit group whose purpose is to find permanent, loving homes for coonhounds, and to educate the public about their qualities. We operate through the help of donations. All donations received go into our rescue account to help with the medical, husbandry, and advertising costs associated with our rescue. We do not require a donation in order to help people place their dogs in new homes. However, we much appreciate any financial help toward our rescue efforts.
As we are all volunteers our hours vary due to work and family committments. Please keep in mind that this is a rescue organization, not a shelter. When you call or email you are contacting a private home. We try and return all voice mail and email correspondence within 24-48 hours.
We would be happy to answer questions regarding coonhounds and provide information that helps coonhound owners address training issues and behavioral problems. We are happy to help facilitate a more successful home life for hounds and keep them in their original home if at all possible.
We offer referrals and assistance for owners looking to re-home their coonhounds. Occasionally (space provided) we may be able to foster an owner surrender. However, foster space is very limited and primarily reserved for shelter coonhounds, who are the most in need. Although we may not have foster placement for your animal we are available to post your dog as a referral. We will pre-screen potential adopters and then refer them to to you to arrange to meet your dog. We do require that your pet is spayed or neutered prior to placement and be updated on its vaccinations. We prefer to handle dogs as referrals if possible because it is much less stressful on the dog not to be moved to a foster home and also because we have a shortage of foster homes. We are always looking for foster homes if you are interested please email sunnybelle@hotmail.com.
