Featured Pet- How can you Pick just one?

Over the years we have had so many special dogs. Its hard to pick just one that is deserving of a great home. They all are. We are a little different from alot of rescues since we do not pick for only the most adoptable dogs. We believe everyone should get a chance. If the dog needs training or just medical care we are willing to go the distance to get the dogs back up to health and ready for new homes. How can you turn away mans best friend. By learning to work through issues that others would just walk away from it brings us all closer to each other. Some dogs take longer to find homes then others. We do our best to find the best home for each dog.

Who we are-

Rising Phoenix Mastiff Rescue started as a dream. A dream that some day all mastiff and large breeds would have a chance to find an amazing home. We are a non profit and no kill rescue. We started very small and have gained a lot of respect and help through the years. We are able to work with not only the common breed mastiffs but the rare and misunderstood breeds. The more powerful breeds are harder to place but just as worthy of a home as the other dogs. We are willing to go the distance. We are so lucky to have foster homes in WA, OR, ID, MT, NV, AZ, CA, and many other places. We work with rescues all over the USA and Canada. We are here to help. So many dogs are looked over. Alot of our dogs are big males. Since the 3 worst things you can be in a shelter is A Large breed, Black or brindle, and a boy. Any combo of those things are a death sentence. So we save as many as we can. If you would like more info on RPMR Please visit our site at www.RisingPhoenixMastiffRescue.com or you can check us out on face book at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Rising-Phoenix-Mastiff-Rescue/278102722218648

What we do-

We work with breeds and dogs who are normally overlooked. That scared dog in the back of a kennel in the shelter on death row. That's our kind of dog. He or she deserves a chance. If the dog needs training we will get it, if they need medical care we do our best. No one deserves to be given up on. We are known for working with breeds a lot of rescues will not. We also spend alot of one on one time with our dogs. Our goal is not just to find them a home but to find them the right home. We want to help you find the right best friend. This will help you have a long and happy relationship with your new friend. We also believe that education is the key. A lot of the dogs we see in rescue are here because they did not get the training or care they needed as puppies. The only way to stop this is by educating the owners when they get that new little guy on how to help. If you or anyone you know has questions or needs help feel free to drop us an email. That's why we are here, to help.

Breeds we work with-

At RPMR we will work with any breed or mix breed that needs a place to go. We do not limit ourselves to mastiffs, although they are the preference. We do however have experience with most mastiff breeds. Including English Mastiff, American Mastiff, Tosa Inu, Spanish Mastiffs, Neopolitan, Cane Corso ( Italian Mastiff), Fila Brasileiro (Brazilian Mastiff), Dogo, Presa, and many more. We believe that they all need a second chance. If you are looking for help or to adopt and don't know if we have a dog in your area, please contact us, we stay in contact with other rescues who may be able to help.

We are unable to work with any Pitbulls, or mix of. Due to many cities in our area banning them they have become very difficult to find homes for and we feel that other rescues may be a better alternative.

Adoption Process-

The first step is an application. The best way to get one is to email us and we will get back to you in 12 hrs. The application can be emailed to you and filled out, all you have to do is send it back. We have found this to be much faster then snail mail or faxing it. Tell us who you are looking at it is difficult for us to tell you anything about the dog if we do not know who you are speaking about. We are also glad to answer any questions you have. We want to get to know you and make sure that the dog that you adopt is the right dog, not just a dog. We want to make sure that you will be happy with your new family member and that your new family member has found their right fit. Many of our dogs come from rough backgrounds and deserve great homes. We spend alot of time with these guys and try very hard to get to know them as well as we can.

When applying for a dog please be prepaired to adopt the dog if approved. Please do not ask us to hold a dog over 7 days. We are based out of homes and foster homes and this limits the amount of dogs that we can save and help. Please be aware that you may be asked to put a deposit on a dog if you are asking for us to hold it for you. This allows us to know that you are serous since some dogs can be very popular and have many applications in on them. Although do be aware if you do not come to adopt your pet you will forefet the deposit.

When comming to meet your new friend we do suggest that you bring a few things. We suggest that you bring a blanket for your car. Often durring the year we have great weather but we can sometimes have rainy days or snow on the ground. This means there will be wet feet. We also do have a pool for our dogs in the summer to keep warm. As much as we will try and keep them dry they may have been out playing before you arive. Also please bring a few treats for your new friend. Durring the ride home it can be stressful for both you and your new friend. A few treats to help smooth the situation over never hurts. We also suggest to bring a leash and collar. Our dogs do not go home with their collars since we only have a limited number of our own. If you have questions on collar size please feel free to ask

Not able to make the drive? We do have a couple of wounderful vollunteers that will help with transport if requested. They do so on their own and although they are donating their time the do ask for gas to be rembursed. This allow us to help people who are unable to come to yakima. They are able to do transports in other states as well. As we do allow out of state adoptions.

Our Adoption Fees

$100.00-350.00 for a 4mos. to adult altered dog or senior dogs.
$300-$450 for Large mix breeds, pure bred large dogs, smaller pure breds, and some other breeds such as rare breeds. Or altered puppies.
$150- 350 for puppies under 4mos. There is a rembusrement of a percentage of your adoption fee up on proof of alter.

The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchip, worming, flea-treatment, and dental work (if needed), we also try very hard for all of our dogs to have at least basic training as well, so many of our dogs have spent some one on one time with a trainer. We also have a number of trainers that we know and work with. Depending on your area we may be able to get you in touch with one of them. Often these trainers will offer a discount if you adopted a pet through us!

You might ask why our adoption fee is higher for the purebreds, larger mixed breeds and smaller breeds, and the answer is simple.

Purebreds, some large mixed breeds and smaller breeds are often in much higher demand and a rescue is able to ask more money from the adoption of the purebreds , larger mixed breeds and smaller breeds, thus being able to apply that money to the rescue and life saving of many more animals and care of sick or higher-need pets.

At times animals come in with higher-than-average medical needs, and those needs must be financially met.

Your adoption fee will be applied to the rescue and care of many more animals in need; routine items like vaccines, de-wormers, microchips and of course, a high-quality kibble must be purchased, and at times, dental work and other health issues must be addressed so it helps to have extra funds on hand to work with when those things come around Also since we are a rescue that works with animals all over the USA and Canada it helps us get these animals to and from a foster home that can help them. Often a single transport will cost upwards of 700.00.

Thank you for understanding our fee structures and why they are what they are!

Interested in Helping-

There are so many ways to help. From fostering a special dog who just needs a warm place to live and a couple meals a day to helping do evaluations and paper work. We can use all the help we can get. We always need people to help with transport from different areas and between foster homes. We are also always in need for dog items and donations. Our most needed items are Blankets, Dog food, Bowls, Crates, and toys/Treats. We also need funds donated for our special needs dogs who come in with medical issues. We have been working with a lot of shelter dogs who come to us sick and in need of medical care. If you would like to make a donation please contact us. We are always in need of the following items: Dog food, Blankets, Bowls, Treats, Crates (all sizes), dog beds, fencing material, bleach, mops, buckets, cat litter, cat food, collars, and leashs. We are also always in need of funds. They can be sent to us, or to our vet. Please contact us and we can give you his information as well! The dogs and us thank you!

Surrender-

If you are looking to surrender your mastiff, or other large breed and are needing our help please let us know. We do our best to help every dog in need. As much info as you can provide helps. If you know of a mastiff in need please let us know as well. We do need to be able to meet the dog to make sure that we can help. We rarely turn down a dog. If you also are in a situation where you need help or just advice please contact us as well. Its heart breaking to part with your best friend. Sometimes with a little help we can help you keep your dog in your home so that as a rescue we are not even needed.

Education-

If you are ever in need of help or don't know where to turn please let us know. We will do everything that we can in order to get you the advice that you need. We have many contacts via vets, trainers, other rescues, etc. that will be able to assist you. Many of our volunteers have driven as many as 50 hrs away just to help a dog in need. We are blessed to have a truly devoted team of volunteers. Whether in Washington state or Washington DC we are here to help Remember- A well behaved dog is a pleasure to be around. With proper training many dogs wont end up in the shelters or rescue.
